423 - أخبرنا أبو سعيد الماليني قال : سمعت أبا القاسم عمر بن أحمد بن محمد البغدادي بشيراز يقول : سمعت أبا الحسن علي بن محمد الواعظ يقول سمعت أبا سعيد الخزاز يقول : ـ { هل جزاء الإحسان إلا الإحسان } هل جزاء من انقطع عن نفسه إلا التعلق بربه ؟ و هل جزاء من انقطع عن أنس المخلوقين إلا الأنس برب العالمين ؟ و هل جزاء من صبر علينا إلا الوصول إلينا و من وصل إلينا هل يجمل به أن يختار علينا ؟ و هل جزاء التعب في الدنيا و النصب فيها إلا الراحة في الآخرة ؟ و هل جزاء من صبر على البلوى إلا التقرب إلى المولى ؟ و هل جزاء من سلم قلبه إلينا أن نجعل توليته إلى غيرنا ؟ و هل جزاء من بعد عن الخلق إلا التقرب إلى الحق

425 - أخبرنا أبو عبد الله الحافظ أنا علي بن محمد الحبيبي بمرو أخبرني محمد بن عبد الله الجوهري ثنا الفيض بن إسحاق أخبرني عبد الله بن أبي عيسى قال : كان رجل من أهل البصرة يقال له ضيغم تعبد قائما حتى أقعد ثم تعبد قائما حتى استلقى ثم تعبد و هو مستلقي حتى أفحم فلما أجهد قال : اجلسوني فرفع بصره إلى السماء فقال : سبحانك عجبا للخليقة كيف أنست بأحد سواك

426 - أخبرنا أبو عبد الله الحافظ أنا الحسن بن محمد بن إسحاق ثنا أبو عثمان الحناط ثنا أحمد بن أبي الحواري قال : سمعت أبا جذيمة وهب بن أبي حافظ الليثي قال : قال راهب من الرهبان : إذا استقرت المحبة في القلب ذهل عن الأهل و الولد قال و حدثنا أحمد قال : سمعت راهبا في دير خلد يقول للحسن بن شوذب : لا يكون المحب لله عز و جل محبا حتى يحبه بكل الكل فصاح الحسن بن شوذب قال و حدثنا أحمد قال : سمعت مضاء بن عيسى يقول : حب الله يلهمك العمل له بلا دليل يلجئك إليه

433 - أخبرنا أبو عبد الله الحافظ ثنا أبو بكر محمد بن أحمد بن بالويه ثنا محمد بن أحمد بن النضر الأزدي حدثني عبد الصمد الصائغ مردويه قال : دخل سفيان الثوري على رابعة العدوية فقالت له : يا سفيان ما تعدون السخاء فيكم ؟ قال : أما عند أبناء الدنيا فالذي يجود بماله و أما عند أبناء الآخرة فهو الذي يجود بنفسه فقالت : يا سفيان أخطأت فيها فقال سفيان : فما السخاء عندك ـ رحمك الله ؟ ـ قالت : أن تعبدوه حبا له لا لطلب جزاء و لا مكافأة ثم أنشأت تقول : ( لولاك ما طابت الجنان و لا نعيم لجنة الخلد ) ( قوم أرادوا للجنان و قلبي سواك لم يرد )

434 - أخبرنا أبو علي الروذباري أنا أبو زكريا عبد الله بن أحمد البلاذري الحافظ ثنا محمد بن عبد الله العمري ثنا إبراهيم بن الجنيد ثنا إسماعيل بن عبد الرحمن الكوفي و كان من العباد قال : لقيني بهلول المجنون فقال لي : أسألك ؟ قال قلت : سل قال أي شيء السخاء ؟ قلت البذل و العطاء قال : هذا السخاء في الدنيا فما السخاء في الآخرة ؟ قلت : المسارعة إلى طاعة السيد قال فتريد منه الجزاء ؟ قلت : نعم بالواحدة عشرة قال : هذا في الدين قبيح و لكن المسارعة لطاعة سيدي أن لا يطلع على قلبك و أنت تريد منه شيئا بشيء
