‘Abdullâh bin ‘Umar said: “People say: ‘When you sit to relieve yourself, do not face the Qibith.’ But one day I climbed up onto the roof of our house, and I saw the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H sitting on two bricks (to relieve himself), facing the direction of Baitul-Maqdis (Jerusalem).” This is a Hadith narrated by Yarid bin Hânin. (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَی حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَی عَنْ عِيسَی الْحَنَّاطِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي کَنِيفِهِ مُسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةِ قَالَ عِيسَی فَقُلْتُ ذَلِکَ لِلشَّعْبِيِّ فَقَالَ صَدَقَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ وَصَدَقَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ أَمَّا قَوْلُ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ فَقَالَ فِي الصَّحْرَائِ لَا يَسْتَقْبِلْ الْقِبْلَةَ وَلَا يَسْتَدْبِرْهَا وَأَمَّا قَوْلُ ابْنِ عُمَرَ فَإِنَّ الْکَنِيفَ لَيْسَ فِيهِ قِبْلَةٌ اسْتَقْبِلْ فِيهِ حَيْثُ شِئْتَ قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ وَحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو حَاتِمٍ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَی فَذَکَرَ نَحْوَهُ

It was narrated that lbn ‘Umar said: “I saw the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H in his (constructed) toilet, facing towards the Qiblah.”(One of the narrators) ‘Eisa said: I told that to Sha’bi, and he said: ‘Ibn ‘Umar spoke the truth and Abu Hurairah spoke the truth. As for the words of Abu Hurairah, he said: “In the desert do not face the Qiblah nor turning one’s hack towards it.” As for the words of bn ‘Umar, he said: “In the (constructed) toilet there is Qiblah so turn in whatever direction you want.”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ عَنْ حَمَّادِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّائِ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ عَنْ عِرَاکِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ ذُکِرَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَوْمٌ يَکْرَهُونَ أَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلُوا بِفُرُوجِهِمْ الْقِبْلَةَ فَقَالَ أُرَاهُمْ قَدْ فَعَلُوهَا اسْتَقْبِلُوا بِمَقْعَدَتِي الْقِبْلَةَ قَالَ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ الْقَطَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّائِ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ مِثْلَهُ

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “Mention was made in the presence of the Messenger of Allah p.b.u.h of some people who did not like to face towards the Qiblah with their private parts He said: ‘I think that they do that. Turn my seat (in the toilet) to face the Qiblah.’“(Da’if) Another chain with similar wording.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَقَ عَنْ أَبَانَ بْنِ صَالِحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ نَهَی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَسْتَقْبِلَ الْقِبْلَةَ بِبَوْلٍ فَرَأَيْتُهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقْبَضَ بِعَامٍ يَسْتَقْبِلُهَا

It was narrated that Jabir said: “The Messenger of Allah p.b.u.h a forbade facing the Qiblah when urinating. But I saw him, one year before he died, facing the Qiblah (while urinating).”(Hasan)
