حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَوْدِيُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاکُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عِکْرِمَةَ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ جَائَ أَعْرَابِيُّ إِلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَبْصَرْتُ الْهِلَالَ اللَّيْلَةَ فَقَالَ أَتَشْهَدُ أَنْ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَأَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ نَعَمْ قَالَ قُمْ يَا بِلَالُ فَأَذِّنْ فِي النَّاسِ أَنْ يَصُومُوا غَدًا قَالَ أَبُو عَلِيٍّ هَکَذَا رِوَايَةُ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَوْرٍ وَالْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ وَرَوَاهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ فَلَمْ يَذْکُرْ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَقَالَ فَنَادَی أَنْ يَقُومُوا وَأَنْ يَصُومُوا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said. "A Bedouin came to the Prophet P.B.U.H and said: 'I have seen the new crescent tonight.' He said: 'Do you bear witness that none has the right to be worshiped but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H?' He said: 'Yes: He said: 'Get up, a Bilal, and announce to the people that they should fast tomorrow:" (Da'if) Abu' Ali said: "This is how it was narrated from Walid bin Abu Thawr and Hasan bin 'Ali. It was also narrated from Hammad bin Salamah, but he did not mention Ibn 'Abbas. He said: ' And he announced that they should perform the prayer and that they should fast:"

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُمَيْرِ بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي عُمُومَتِي مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالُوا أُغْمِيَ عَلَيْنَا هِلَالُ شَوَّالٍ فَأَصْبَحْنَا صِيَامًا فَجَائَ رَکْبٌ مِنْ آخِرِ النَّهَارِ فَشَهِدُوا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُمْ رَأَوْا الْهِلَالَ بِالْأَمْسِ فَأَمَرَهُمْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُفْطِرُوا وَأَنْ يَخْرُجُوا إِلَی عِيدِهِمْ مِنْ الْغَدِ

It was narrated that 'Umair bin Anas bin Malik said: "My paternal uncles among the Ansar who were among the Companions of the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H told me: 'The new crescent of Shawwal was covered with clouds, so we fasted the next day.
