حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمٌ الْبَطِينُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ قَالَ مَا أَخْطَأَنِي ابْنُ مَسْعُودٍ عَشِيَّةَ خَمِيسٍ إِلَّا أَتَيْتُهُ فِيهِ قَالَ فَمَا سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ بِشَيْئٍ قَطُّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا کَانَ ذَاتَ عَشِيَّةٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَکَسَ قَالَ فَنَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ فَهُوَ قَائِمٌ مُحَلَّلَةً أَزْرَارُ قَمِيصِهِ قَدْ اغْرَوْرَقَتْ عَيْنَاهُ وَانْتَفَخَتْ أَوْدَاجُهُ قَالَ أَوْ دُونَ ذَلِکَ أَوْ فَوْقَ ذَلِکَ أَوْ قَرِيبًا مِنْ ذَلِکَ أَوْ شَبِيهًا بِذَلِکَ

‘Amr bin Maimun said: “I used to visit Ibn Mas’ud every Thursday afternoon, but he never uttered the words: ‘The Messenger of Allah (p.b.u.h) said.’ Then one evening, he said: ‘The Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H) said,’ then he let his head hang down.” He said “I looked at him and saw that his shirt was unfastened; his eyes were filled with tears, and his veins were bulging out (with fera). He said: ‘Or more than that, or less than that, or close to that, or something similar.’ (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ کَانَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِکٍ إِذَا حَدَّثَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَدِيثًا فَفَرَغَ مِنْهُ قَالَ أَوْ کَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

Muhammad bin Sirin said:“Whenever Anas bin Málik finished narrating a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (P.B.U.H) , he would say, ‘Or as the Messenger of Allâh (P.B.U.H) said.” (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ح و حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَی قَالَ قُلْنَا لِزَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ حَدِّثْنَا عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ کَبِرْنَا وَنَسِينَا وَالْحَدِيثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَدِيدٌ

It was narrated that ‘AbdurRahmân bin Abi Laila said: “We said to Zaid bin Arqam: ‘Tell us a Hadith from the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.W.)‘ He said: ‘We have grown old and have forgotten, and (narrating) Ahadith from the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.W) is difficult (not a simple matter).’” (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النَّضْرِ عَنْ شُعْبَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي السَّفَرِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الشَّعْبِيَّ يَقُولُ جَالَسْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ سَنَةً فَمَا سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا

It was narrated that ‘Abdullâh bin Abu Safar said: “I heard Ash-Sha’bi saying: ‘I sat with Ibn ‘Umar for a year and I did not hear him narrate anything from the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.W). (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنْ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ إِنَّمَا کُنَّا نَحْفَظُ الْحَدِيثَ وَالْحَدِيثُ يُحْفَظُ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَّا إِذَا رَکِبْتُمْ الصَّعْبَ وَالذَّلُولَ فَهَيْهَاتَ

It was narrated from Ibn Tâwus that his father said: “I heard Ibn ‘Abbás saying: ‘We used to memorize Ahddith, and Ahadith were memorized from the Messenger of Allah (S.A.W.W) But if you go to the extremes of either exaggeration or negligence (in narrating Ahadith), there is no way we can trust your Ahâdith.” (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ قَرَظَةَ بْنِ کَعْبٍ قَالَ بَعَثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِلَی الْکُوفَةِ وَشَيَّعَنَا فَمَشَی مَعَنَا إِلَی مَوْضِعٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ صِرَارٌ فَقَالَ أَتَدْرُونَ لِمَ مَشَيْتُ مَعَکُمْ قَالَ قُلْنَا لِحَقِّ صُحْبَةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَلِحَقِّ الْأَنْصَارِ قَالَ لَکِنِّي مَشَيْتُ مَعَکُمْ لِحَدِيثٍ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُحَدِّثَکُمْ بِهِ وَأَرَدْتُ أَنْ تَحْفَظُوهُ لِمَمْشَايَ مَعَکُمْ إِنَّکُمْ تَقْدَمُونَ عَلَی قَوْمٍ لِلْقُرْآنِ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ هَزِيزٌ کَهَزِيزِ الْمِرْجَلِ فَإِذَا رَأَوْکُمْ مَدُّوا إِلَيْکُمْ أَعْنَاقَهُمْ وَقَالُوا أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ فَأَقِلُّوا الرِّوَايَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنَا شَرِيکُکُمْ

It was narrated that Qarazah bin Ka’b said: “Umar bin Al-Khattab sent us to Kufab, and he accompanied us as far as a place called Sirâr. He said: ‘Do you know why I walked with you?’ We said: ‘Because of the rights of the Companions of the Messenger of AllAh S.A.W.W and because of the rights of the Ansar.’ He said: ‘No, rather it is because of words that I wanted to say to you. I wanted you to memorize it due to my walking with you. You are going to people in whose hearts the Qur’an bubbles like water in a copper cauldron, When they see you, they will look up at you, saying: “The Companions of Muhammad!” But do not recite many reports from the Messenger of AllAh S.A.W.W. then I will be your partner.” (Da’if)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ يَحْيَی بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ صَحِبْتُ سَعْدَ بْنَ مَالِکٍ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَی مَکَّةَ فَمَا سَمِعْتُهُ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِحَدِيثٍ وَاحِدٍ

It was narrated that Sa’ib bin Yazid said: “I accompanied Sa’d bin Malikk from Al-Madinah to Makkah, and I did not hear him narrate a single Hadith from the Prophet S.A.W.W. (Sahih)
