حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ عَنْ صَالِحٍ مَوْلَی التَّوْأَمَةِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ صَلَّی عَلَی جِنَازَةٍ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ فَلَيْسَ لَهُ شَيْئٌ

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: "The Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said: 'Whoever offers the funeral prayer in the Masjid willhave nothing (i.e., no reward).''' (Hasan)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ عَبَّادِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ وَاللَّهِ مَا صَلَّی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَی سُهَيْلِ ابْنِ بَيْضَائَ إِلَّا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ قَالَ ابْن مَاجَةَ حَدِيثُ عَائِشَةَ أَقْوَی

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: "By Allah! The Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H did not offer the funeral prayer for Suhail bin Baida' anywhere but in the Masjid." (Sahih) Ibn Majah said: The Hadith of Aishah is stronger.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ ح و حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ رَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَکِ جَمِيعًا عَنْ مُوسَی بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ رَبَاحٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ يَقُولُ ثَلَاثُ سَاعَاتٍ کَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَانَا أَنْ نُصَلِّيَ فِيهِنَّ أَوْ نَقْبِرَ فِيهِنَّ مَوْتَانَا حِينَ تَطْلُعُ الشَّمْسُ بَازِغَةً وَحِينَ يَقُومُ قَائِمُ الظَّهِيرَةِ حَتَّی تَمِيلَ الشَّمْسُ وَحِينَ تَضَيَّفُ لِلْغُرُوبِ حَتَّی تَغْرُبَ

'Uqbah bin' Amir AI·Juhani said: "There are three times during the day when the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H forbade us to offer the funeral prayer or bury our dead: When the sun has fully risen (until it is higher up in the sky); when it is overhead at noon, until it has passed the mend Ian: and when it is starting to set until it has set." (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ أَنْبَأَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ الْيَمَانِ عَنْ مِنْهَالِ بْنِ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ عَطَائٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَدْخَلَ رَجُلًا قَبْرَهُ لَيْلًا وَأَسْرَجَ فِي قَبْرِهِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H placed a man in his grave at night, and he lit a lamp in his grave. (Da'if)

حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَوْدِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا وَکِيعٌ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْمَکِّيِّ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَدْفِنُوا مَوْتَاکُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ إِلَّا أَنْ تُضْطَرُّوا

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said: "Do not bury your dead at night unless you are forced to." (Da'if)

حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ صَلُّوا عَلَی مَوْتَاکُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Prophet P.B.U.H said: "Offer the funeral prayer for your dead by night or by day."(Da'if)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بِشْرٍ بَکْرُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ جَائَ ابْنُهُ إِلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَعْطِنِي قَمِيصَکَ أُکَفِّنْهُ فِيهِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ آذِنُونِي بِهِ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ مَا ذَاکَ لَکَ فَصَلَّی عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَا بَيْنَ خِيَرَتَيْنِ اسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ أَوْ لَا تَسْتَغْفِرْ لَهُمْ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَی أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ مَاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَی قَبْرِهِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: "When' Abdullah bin Ubayy died, his son came to the Prophet P.B.U.H and said: 0 Messenger of Allah, give me your shirt so that I may shroud him in it.' The Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said: 'Notify me when he is ready (i.e., when he has been washed and shrouded).' When the Prophet P.B.U.H wanted to offer the funeral prayer for him, 'Umar bin Khattab said to him: 'You should not do that.' The Prophet P.B.U.H offered the funeral prayer for him, and the Prophet P.B.U.H said to him: 'I have been given two choices:…ask forgiveness for them (hypocrites) or ask not forgiveness for them …Then Allah revealed: 'And never pray (the funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave.' (Sahih) Abu 'Abdullah said: From this Hadith we understand that standing at the grave is an act of kindness to the living.

حَدَّثَنَا عَمَّارُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ وَسَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي سَهْلٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مُجَالِدٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنْ جَابِرٍ قَالَ مَاتَ رَأْسُ الْمُنَافِقِينَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَأَوْصَی أَنْ يُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَنْ يُکَفِّنَهُ فِي قَمِيصِهِ فَصَلَّی عَلَيْهِ وَکَفَّنَهُ فِي قَمِيصِهِ وَقَامَ عَلَی قَبْرِهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تُصَلِّ عَلَی أَحَدٍ مِنْهُمْ مَاتَ أَبَدًا وَلَا تَقُمْ عَلَی قَبْرِهِ

It was narrated that Jabir said: "The leader of the hypocrites in AI-Madinah died, and left instructions that the Prophet P.B.U.H should offer the funeral prayer for him and shroud him in his shirt. He offered the funeral prayer for him and shrouded him in his shirt, and stood by his grave. Then Allah revealed the words: "And never pray (the funeral prayer) for any of them (hypocrites) who dies, nor stand at his grave." (Da'if)

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ السُّلَمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ نَبْهَانَ حَدَّثَنَا عُتْبَةُ بْنُ يَقْظَانَ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ عَنْ مَکْحُولٍ عَنْ وَاثِلَةَ بْنِ الْأَسْقَعِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلُّوا عَلَی کُلِّ مَيِّتٍ وَجَاهِدُوا مَعَ کُلِّ أَمِيرٍ

It was narrated from Wathilah bin Asqa' that the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said: 'Offer prayer for everyone who dies, and strive in Jihad under every chief." (Maudu)

وَاثِلَةَ بْنَ الْأَسْقَعِ، ← مَكْحُولٌ ← اَبِیْ سَعِیْدٍ ← عُتْبَةُ بْنُ يَقْظَانَ ← الحارث بن نبهان ← مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ← اَحْمَدُ بْنُ یُوْسُفَ السُّلَمِیُّ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيکُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ سِمَاکِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جُرِحَ فَآذَتْهُ الْجِرَاحَةُ فَدَبَّ إِلَی مَشَاقِصَ فَذَبَحَ بِهَا نَفْسَهُ فَلَمْ يُصَلِّ عَلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ وَکَانَ ذَلِکَ مِنْهُ أَدَبًا

It was narrated from Jabir bin Samurah that a man from ,among the Companions of the Prophet P.B.U.H was wounded, and the wound caused him a great deal of pain. He went and took a . spearhead, and slaughtered himself with it. The Prophet P.B.U.H did not offer the funeral prayer for him, and that was as an admonition for others. (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا ثَابِتٌ عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً سَوْدَائَ کَانَتْ تَقُمُّ الْمَسْجِدَ فَفَقَدَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهَا بَعْدَ أَيَّامٍ فَقِيلَ لَهُ إِنَّهَا مَاتَتْ قَالَ فَهَلَّا آذَنْتُمُونِي فَأَتَی قَبْرَهَا فَصَلَّی عَلَيْهَا

It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that a black woman used to sweep the Masjid. The Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H noticed she was missing and he asked about her after a few days. He was told that she had died. He said, "Why did you not tell me?" Then he went to her grave and offered the funeral prayer for her. (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ حَکِيمٍ حَدَّثَنَا خَارِجَةُ بْنُ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ وَکَانَ أَکْبَرَ مِنْ زَيْدٍ قَالَ خَرَجْنَا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَمَّا وَرَدَ الْبَقِيعَ فَإِذَا هُوَ بِقَبْرٍ جَدِيدٍ فَسَأَلَ عَنْهُ قَالُوا فُلَانَةُ قَالَ فَعَرَفَهَا وَقَالَ أَلَا آذَنْتُمُونِي بِهَا قَالُوا کُنْتَ قَائِلًا صَائِمًا فَکَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُؤْذِيَکَ قَالَ فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا لَا أَعْرِفَنَّ مَا مَاتَ مِنْکُمْ مَيِّتٌ مَا کُنْتُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِکُمْ إِلَّا آذَنْتُمُونِي بِهِ فَإِنَّ صَلَاتِي عَلَيْهِ لَهُ رَحْمَةٌ ثُمَّ أَتَی الْقَبْرَ فَصَفَفْنَا خَلْفَهُ فَکَبَّرَ عَلَيْهِ أَرْبَعًا

Kharijah bin Zaid bin Thabit narrated that Yazid bin Thabit, who was older than Zaid, Said: "We went out with the Prophet P.B.U.H and when we reached Al-Baqi', we saw a new grave. He asked about it and they said: '(It is) so-and-so (a woman).' He recognized the name and said: 'Why did you not tell me about her?' They said: 'You were taking a nap and you were fasting, and we did not like to disturb you.' He said: 'Do not do that; I do not want to see it happen again that one of you dies, while I am still among you, and you do not tell me, for my prayer for him is a mercy.' Then he went to the grave and we lined up in rows behind him, and he said four Takbir (i.e. for the funeral prayer)." (Sahih)
