عثمان بن عفان بن أبي العاص بن أمية بن عبد شمس ابن عبد مناف بن قصيّ. وأمّه أروى بنت كريز بن ربيعة بن حبيب ابن عبد شمس بن عبد مناف بن قصيّ، وأمها أم حكم، وهي البيضاء بنت عبد المطلب بن هاشم بن عبد مناف بن قصيّ. وكان عثمان في الجاهلية يكنى أبا عمرو، فلما كان الإسلام ولد له من رقيّة بنت رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ غلام سمّاه عبد الله واكتنى به؛ فكّناه المسلمون أبا عبد الله، فبلغ عبد الله ستّ سنين، فنقره ديك على عينيه فمرض فمات في جمادى الأولى سنة أربع من الهجرة فصلّى عليه رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، ونزل في حفرته عثمان بن عفان. وكان لعثمان رضي الله عنه من الولد- سوى عبد الله بن رقية- عبد الله الأصغر- درج - وأمه فاختة بنت غزوان بن جابر ابن نسيب بن وهيب بن زيد بن مالك بن عبد عوف بن الحارث ابن مازن بن منصور بن عكرمة بن خصفة بن قيس بن عيلان. وعمرو، وخالد، وأبان، وعمر، ومريم؛ وأمهم أمّ عمرو بنت جندب بن عمرو بن حممة بن الحارث بن رفاعة بن سعدابن ثعلبة بن لؤيّ بن عامر بن غنم بن دهمان بن منهب بن دوس من الأزد. والوليد بن عثمان، وسعيد، وأمّ سعيد؛ وأمهم فاطمة بنت الوليد بن عبد شمس بن المغيرة بن عبد الله بن عمر بن مخزوم. وعبد الملك بن عثمان- درج- وأمه أم البنين بنت عيينة ابن حصن بن حذيفة بن بدر الفزاري. وعائشة بنت عثمان، وأمّ أبان، وأمّ عمرو؛ وأمّهن رملة بنت شيبة بن ربيعة بن عبد شمس بن عبد مناف بن قصيّ. ومريم بنت عثمان؛ وأمها نائلة بنت الفرافصة «1» ابن الأحوص ابن عمرو بن ثعلبة بن حصن بن ضمضم بن عديّ بن جناب بن كلب. وأم البنين بنت عثمان؛ وأمّها أمّ ولد، وهي التي كانت عند عبد الله بن زيد بن أبي سفيان (ذكر إسلام عثمان بن عفان رضي الله عنه) قال: أخبرنا محمد بن عمر، قال حدثني محمد بن صالح عن يزيد بن رومان قال: خرج عثمان بن عفّان وطلحة بن عبيد اللهعلى أثر الزّبير بن العوّام، فدخلا على رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فعرض عليهما الإسلام وقرأ عليهما القرآن، وأنبأهما بحقوق الإسلام، ووعدهما الكرامة من الله؛ فآمنا وصدّقا، فقال عثمان: يا رسول الله قدمت حديثا من الشام، فلما كنّا بين معان والزّرقاء فنحن كالنّيام إذا مناد ينادينا: أيها النّيام هبّوا فإنّ أحمد قد خرج بمكّة. فقدمنا فسمعنا بك- وكان إسلام عثمان قديما قبل دخول رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم دار الأرقم. قال: أخبرنا محمد بن عمر قال، حدثني موسى بن محمد ابن إبراهيم بن حارث التّيمي عن أبيه قال: لمّا أسلم عثمان بن عفّان أخذه عمّه الحكم بن أبي قال: أخبرنا محمد بن عمر قال، أخبرنا عبد الجبار بن عمارة قال، سمعت عبد الله بن أبي بكر بن محمد بن عمرو بن حزم، قال محمد بن عمرو، وأخبرنا موسى بن يعقوب الزّمعي، عن محمد بن جعفر بن الزّبير- قالا: لما هاجر عثمان من مكة إلى المدينة نزل على أوس بن ثابت أخي حسّان بن ثابت في بني النجار. قال: أخبرنا محمد بن عمر قال، أخبرنا محمد بن عبد الله، عن الزّهري، عن عبيد الله بن عبد الله بن عتبة قال: لما أقطع رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الدّور بالمدينة خطّ لعثمان بن عفّان داره اليوم. ويقال إن الخوخة التي في دار عثمان اليوم وجاه باب النبيّ الذي كان رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يخرج منه إذا دخل بيت عثمان. قال: أخبرنا محمد بن عمر، حدثني موسى بن محمد بن إبراهيم، عن أبيه قال: آخى رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بين عثمان بن عفان وعبد الرحمن بن عوف، وآخى بين عثمان وأوس بن ثابت أبي شدّاد بن أوس، ويقال أبي عبادة سعد بن عثمان الزّرقيّ. قال: أخبرنا محمد بن عمر قال، حدثني أبو بكر بن عبد الله ابن أبي سبرة، عن المسور بن رفاعة، عن عبد الله بن مكنف ابن حارثة الأنصاري قال: لمّا خرج رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إلى بدر خلف عثمان على ابنته رقيّة، وكانت مريضة فماتت رضي الله عنها يوم قدم زيد بن حارثة المدينة بشيرا بما فتح الله على رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ببدر، وضرب رسول الله صلّى الله عليهالعاص بن أميّة فأوثقه رباطا وقال: أترغب عن ملّة آبائك إلى دين محدث؟! والله لا أحلّك أبدا حتى تدع ما أنت عليه من هذا الدين. فقال عثمان: والله لا أدعه أبدا ولا أفارقه. فلمّا رأى الحكم صلابته في دينه تركه. قالوا: فكان عثمان ممّن هاجر من مكة إلى أرض الحبشة الهجرة الأولى والهجرة الثانية، ومعه فيهما جميعا امرأته رقية بنت رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. وقال رسول الله صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: إنهما لأوّل من هاجر إلى الله بعد لوطوسلم صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لعثمان بسهمه وأجره في بدر؛ فكان كمن شهدها.

* (عن إياس بن سلمة بن الأكوع، عن أبيه قال: اشتدّ البلاء على من كان في أيدي المشركين من المسلمين قال: فدعا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلّم عمر فقال: يا عمر هل أنت مبلغ عني إخوانك من أسرى المسلمين؟ قال: بأبي أنت والله ما لي بمكّة عشيرة، غيري أكثر عشيرة مني، ثم إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ إِلَى مَكَّةَ، فَأَجَارَهُ أَبَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: يَا ابْنَ عَمِّ، أَرَاكَ مُتَحَشِّفًا، أَسْبِلْ كَمَا يُسْبِلُ قَوْمُكَ، قَالَ: هَكَذَا يَتَّزِرُ صَاحِبُنَا إِلَى أَنْصَافِ سَاقَيْهِ (فلم يدع أحدا بمكة من أسرى المسلمين إلا أبلغهم ما قال رسول الله)

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ: أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ سَارَ مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى الْكُوفَةِ ثَمَانِيًا حِينَ قُتِلَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: «يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ قَدْ مَاتَ فَلَمْ نَرَ نَشِيجًا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ نَشِيجِ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ، وَإِنَّا اجْتَمَعْنَا أَصْحَابَ مُحَمَّدٍ فَلَمْ نَأْلُ عَنْ خِيرِنَا ذَا فُوقٍ فَبَايَعْنَا عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، فَبَايِعُوهُ، فَبَايَعَهُ النَّاسُ»
