حَدَّثَنَامُوْسی قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَاأَبُوْ عَوَ اَنَۃ َقَالَ: حَدَّثَنَاعُمَرُ، عَنْ أَبِیِہ، عَنْ أَبِيْ ھُرَیْرَۃَؓ قَالَ:کَانَ الَّنبِی ﷺ إِذَا أَصْبَحَ قَالَ: ((أَصْبَحْنَا وَأَصْبَحَ الْمُلْکُ لِلَّہِ، وَالْحَمْدُ کُلُّۃُ للہِ، لَا شَرِِیْکَ لَہ ُ،لَاإِلَہَ إِلَّااللہُ، وَإِلَیْہِ النُّشُوْرُ)) وإِذَا أَمْسَی قَالَ: ((أَمْسَیْنَا وَأَمْسَی الْمُلْکُ لِلَّہِ، وَالْحَمدُ کُلُّہُ لِلَّہِ، لَا شَرِِیْکَ لَہُ، لَا إِلَہ إِلأَ اللہُ، وَإِلَیُہِ الْمَصِیْرُ))۔

Abu Hurayra said, "The Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, would say in the morning, 'We have reached the morning and the kingdom belongs to Allah and all praise belongs to has no partner. There is no god but Allah and to Him is the gathering.' In the evening he would say, 'We have reached the evening and the kingdom belongs to Allah and all praise belongs to Allah who has no partner. There is no god but Allah and to Him is the return."

حَدَّثَنَامَُحمَٔد بْنُ سَلَٔامِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَۃُقَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَٔد بْنُ عَمْرِ وقَالَ: حَدَٔ َثَنَا أَبُوْ سَلَمَۃََ ، عَنْ أَبَيْ ھُرَیْرَۃَؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُول اللہِ ﷺ:((اإِنَٔ الْکَریْم ابْنَ اکْکَرِیْم اْبنِ الْکَریْم: یُوْسُفُ بْنُ یَعْقُوْبَ بْنِ إِسْحَاق بِنِ اإِبْرَاھیْمَ خَلِیْلِ الرَٔحْمَنِ ؑ))، قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ:((لَوْلَبِثْتُ فِي السَٔجْنِ مَا لَبثَ یُوْسُفُ، ثُمَٔ جَاءَ نِي الَٔداعِی لَا جَبْتُ، اإِذْ جَاءَ الرَٔسُوْلَ فَقَالَ:(ارْجِع اإِلَی رَبَٔکَ فِا سْا لْہُ مَا بَالُ النَٔسْوَۃِ الَٔانِيْ قَطَٔعْنَ أَیْدِ یَھُنَٔ)، وَرَحْمَۃُ اللہِ عَلَی لُوْط، اإِنْ َ کانَ لَیأَوِیْ اإِلی رُکْن شَدِ یْد، اإِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِہِ:(لَوْ أَنَٔ لِيْ بِکُمْ قُؤِۃ أَوْ آوِ يْ اإِلَی رُکُن شَدِیْدٍ )، مَا اإِنَٔ بَعَث َ اللہُ بَعْدَہُ مِنْ نَبِیًَ اإِلَٔا فِيْ ثَرْوَۃٍ مِنْ قَوْمہِ))۔قَالَ مُحَمَٔد: الثَٔرْوَۃُ: الْکَثَرۃُ وَالْمَنَعَۃُ۔

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "The noble son of the noble son of the noble son of the noble son was Yusuf son of Ya'qub son of Ishaq son of Ibrahim, the Khalil (close friend) of the Merciful, the blessed and Exalted." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "If I had remained in prison for as long as Yusuf remained in prison and then the man with the invitation had come to me, I would have accepted it. When the messenger came to him, he said, 'Go back to your master and enquire of him what happened about the women who cut their hands.' (12:50) Allah showed mercy to Lut when he sought refuge in a strong pillar when he said to his people, 'If only I had the strength to combat you or could seek refuge in a some powerful support!' (11:80) Allah did not send any Prophet after him but that he was one of the wealthy of his people."

حَدَٔثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصِ قاَلَ: حَدَٔثنَاَ أَبِيْ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنَا اْلأَ عْمَشُ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنِيْ مَالِکُ بْنُ انُحَارِث، عَنْ عَبْدالرَٔحْمَنِ بْنِ یِزَیْدَ قَالَ:کَان َ الرَٔبِیْعُ یَأْتِيْ عَلُقَمَۃَ یَوْمَ الْجُمُعَۃِ ، فَإِ ذَالَمْ أَکُنْ ثَمَٔۃَٔ أَرْ سَلُوْا اإِلَي، فَجَاَ ء مَرَٔۃً وَلَسْتُ ثَمَٔۃً فَلَقِینِيْ عَنْقَبۃُ َوقَالَ لِیْ: أَلَمْ تَرَ مَا جَاء بِہِ الرَٔبِیْعُ ؟ قاَلَ: أَلَمْ تَرَ مَا أَکْثَرَ مَا یَدْ عُو بِہِ النَٔاسُ ، وَمَا أَقَلَٔ اإِجَا بَتَھُمْ ؟ وَذَلِکَ أَنَٔ اللہَ عَزَٔ وَجَلَٔ لَا یِقَبَلُ اإِلٔا النَٔاخِلۃَٔ مِنَ الُٔدعَاءِ، قُلْتُ: أَوَلَیْسَ قَدْ قَالَ ذَلِکَ عَبْد اللہِ ؟ قَالَ: وَمَا قَالَ؟ قُلْتُ: قَالَ عَبْدُاللہِ:لَا یَسْمَعٍ وَلَا مُرَاءٍ، وَلَا لَا عَبٍ، اإِلَٔا دَاعٍ دَعَا بِثَبتٍ مِنْ قَلْبِۃِ، قَالَ: فَذَکَرَ عَلْقَمَۃَ ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ

'Abdu'r-Rahman ibn Yazid said, "Ar-Rabi' used to go to 'Alqama every Friday. When I was not there, they would send for me. Once he came when I was not there. 'Alqama met me and told me, 'Did you not see what ar-Rabi' brought? He said, "Do you not see how frequently people make supplication and how rarely they are answered? That is because Allah Almighty only accepts the sincere supplication."' I asked, 'Didn't 'Abdullah say that?' He asked, 'What did he say?' I said that 'Abdullah said, 'Allah does not listen to someone who wants other people to hear not someone who shows off nor who plays. He only listens to the one who makes a supplication firmly from his heart.' He said, 'Did he mention 'Alqama?' 'Yes' was the answer."

حَدَثَنَا مُحَمَٔد بْنُ عُبَدِاللہِ قَالَ: حَدَثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعِزیْزِ أَبِيْ حاَزِمَ، عَنِ انعَلَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِیْہِ، عَنْ أَبِيِْ ھُرَیْرَ ۃَ ؓ أَنَٔ رَسُولَ اللہِ ﷺ قَالَ:((اإذَا دَعَی أَحَدُکُمْ فَلَا یَقُوْلَنَ: اإِنْ شِثْت، وَلْیَعذَِمِ الْمَسْأَلَۃََ، وَلْیُعَظَٔمِ الرَٔ غْبَۃَ، فَاإِنَٔ اللہِ لَاْ یَعْظُمُ علیْہ شَيِءُ؛ أَعْطَاہُ))

Abu Hurayra reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When one of you makes a supplication, he should not say, 'If you wish.' He should be firm in asking and he should have great hope. Allah does not think that anything that He gives is too great.'"

حَدَٔثَنَا مُحَمُد بْنُ سَلَٔامِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَ نَاَ اإِسْمَاعِیْلُ بْنُ عُلَیَٔۃَ، عَنْ عَبْدالْعَزِیْذِ بْنِ صُھَیْب، عَنْ أَنسِ ؓ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ:((اإِذَا دَعَا أَحَدُکُمْ فلْیَعْزِمْ فِي الدُٔعاءَ، وَلَا یَقُلِ : اللٔھَٔمَُٔ اإِنْ شِثْتَ فَأَ عْطِیِنْی، فَاإِنَٔ اللہَ لَا مُسْتْکرِہَ لَہُ))

Anas reported that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When one of you makes a supplication, he should be firm in the supplication and not say, 'O Allah, if you like, give to me.' Allah cannot be forced against His will."

حَدَٔثَنَا اإِبْرِاھِیْمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ قَالَ : حَدَٔثَنَا مُحَٔمُد بْنُ فُلَیحِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَ نِيْ أَ بِی، عَنْ أَبِيْ نُعَیْمٍ۔ وَھُوَ وَھْبَٔ۔ قَالَ؛ رَأَبْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَاْبنَ الذُٔبَیرِ ؓ یَدْعُوَانِ، یُدِیُرَ انِ بِالرَٔا حَتَیْنِ عَلَی الْوَجْہِ

Abu Nu'aym, who is Wahb, said, "I saw Ibn 'Umar and Ibn az-Zubayr making supplication, cupping their palms in front of their faces."

حَدَٔثَنَا مُسَدَٔ دُ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنَا أَبُوْ عَوَ انَۃَ، عَنْ سِمَاکِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ، عَنْ عِکْرَمَۃََََ، عَنْ عَا شَۃََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََََ ؓ ۔زَعَمَ أَنہُ سَمِعَہُ مِنْھَا ۔أَنھَا رَأَتِ النَٔبِیَٔ ﷺ یَدْعُوْ رَاِفِعًا َیَدیْہِ یَقُوْلُ: ((اإِنَٔما أَنا بَشَر’‘ فَلَا تُعَا قِبْنِیْ، أَیمَا رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُوْمِنِیْنَ آذَیْتُہُ أَوْ شَتَعْمُتُہ فَلَا تُعَاقِبْنِیْ فِیْہِ))

'A'isha say that she saw the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, making supplication with his hands raised, saying, 'I am a man, so do not punish me. If I harm any man of the believers or revile him, do not punish me for that.'"

حَدَؔثَنَا عَلی ِقَالَ: حَدَؔثنَا سُفیَانُ قَالَ: حَدَؔثَنَا أَبُو الزًنَادِ، عَنِ اْلَا عْرَجِ، عن أَبِيْ ھُرَیْرَۃَ ؒ قَالَ: قَٔدِمَ الطُفَیْلُ بْنُ عَمْرِ و الَٔدْوسِي’‘ ؓ عَلَی رَسُوْلِ اللہِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: یَارَسُوْلَ اللہِ اإِنَٔ دَوْسَا قَدْ عَصَتْ وَأَبتْ، فَادْعُ اللہَ عَلَیْھَا، فَاسْتَقْبَلَ رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ انْقِبْلَۃَ وَرَفَعَ یَدَیْہِ۔ فَظَنَٔ النَٔاسُ أَنہُ یَدْعُوْ عَلَیْھِم ۔ فَقَالَ:(( الٔلھَٔمُ اھْدِ دَوْسًا، وَانْتِ بِھِمْ))

Abu Hurayra said, "At-Tufayl ibn 'Amr ad-Dawsi came to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and said, 'Messenger of Allah, Daws have rebelled and rejected, so ask Allah to curse them.' The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, faced the qibla and raised his hands and the people thought that he was going to curse them. He said, 'O Allah, guide Daws and lead them!'"

حَدَٔثَنَا مُحَمَٔدُ بْنُ سَلَٔامٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا اإِسْمَاعِیْلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ، عَنْ حُمَیْدِ، عَنْ أَنَس ؓ قَالَ: قَحَطَ الْمَطَرْ عَامً، فَقَامَ بَعْضُ الْمُسْلِمِیْنَ اإِلَی النَٔبَيً ﷺ یَوْمَ الْجُمُعَۃِ، فَقَالَ: یَا رَسُولَ اللہِ! قَحَطَ الْمَطرُ، وَأَجْدَ َبتِ اْلَٔا رضُ، وَھَلَکَ الْمَالُ۔ فَرَفعَ یَدَیْہِ، وَمَا یْرَی ِفي المَٔسمَاءِ مِنْ سَحَابَۃٍ، فَمَدَٔ یَدَیْہَ حَتَٔی رَأَبْتُ بَیَاضَ اإِبْطَیہِ، یَسْٔقِیَِ اللہَ، فَمَا صَلَٔیْنَا الْجُمُعَۃَ حَتَٔی أَھَمَٔ الشَٔابَٔ الْقَرِیْبَ الدَٔارِ الرَٔ جُوْعَ اإِلَی أَھْلِہِ، فَدَامَتْ جُمُعَۃً، فَلَمَٔا کَانَتِ الْجُمُعَۃُ التَٔيْ تَلِیْھَا، فَقَالَ: یَا رَسُولَ اللہِ ! تَھَدَٔمَتِ الْبُیُوْتُ، وَاحْتَبَسَ الرُٔکْبَانُ فَتَبَسَٔمَ ۔لِسُرْعَۃِ مَلَالَۃِ ابْنِ آدَمَ۔وَقَالَ بِیدِہِ:((اللھَٔمَُٔ حَوَاَلْینَا، وَلَا عَلَیْنَا)) ، فَتَکَشَٔطَتْ عَنِ الْمَدِیْنَۃَِ

Anas said, "No rain fell for a year and so one of the Muslims went to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, on Jumu'a (Friday). He said, 'Messenger of Allah, there has been no rain and the ground is dry and people's wealth has been destroyed.' He raised his hand when there was not a cloud to be seen in the sky. He stretched out his arms until I could see the whiteness of his armpits and asked Allah for rain. As soon as we finished the prayer, (the rain was such that) the youth whose house was near was afraid to return to his family. It last past Friday, The following Friday, they said, 'Messenger of Allah, the houses have fallen down and the paths are blocked.' He smiled and observed how quickly the son of Adam becomes discontented. He said while making a gesture with his hand, 'O Allah, around us and not on us.' And the rain cleared away from Madina."

حَدَثَنَا الصَٔلْتُ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنَا أَبْو عَوَانَۃَ، عَنْ سمِاَکَ، عَنْ عِکْرمَۃََ، عَنْ عَاشَۃَٔؓ ، أَنَٔہُ َسمِعَہُ مِنْھَا، أَنَھا رَأَتِ النَٔبِیَٔ ﷺ یَدْعُوْ رَافِعًا یَدَیْہَ یَقُوْلُ:((اللَٔھُمَٔ اإِنَٔما أَنا بَشَر’‘ فَلَا تُعَاقْبِنیْ، أَیِٔمَا رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْمُوْمِنِینَ أذَیْتُہُ أَوْ شَمَتْہُ فَلَا تُعَاقِبِنيْ فِیْہِ))

'Ikrima heard 'A'isha, may Allah be pleased with her, say that she say the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, raise his hands in supplication, saying, 'O Allah, I am a mortal, so do not punish me. If I harm or revile a Muslim man, do not punish me for it!'"

حَدَثنَاَ عَارِم’‘ قَالَ: حَدَٔثنَاَ حَمَٔادُ بْنُ زَیْدِ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنَا حَجَٔاج’‘ الصَٔؤَافُ عَن’‘ أَبِي الزُٔبَیْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِاللہِ، أَنَٔ الطُٔفَیْلَ بْنَ عَمْرِو ؓ قَالَ لِلنَٔبَئَ ﷺ: ھَلْ َلَک ِفي حِضْنِ وَِمَنَعَۃِ، حِضْنِ دَوْسِ؟ قَالَ: فَأِبَي رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ ، لِمَاذَخَرَ اللہُ ِلَٔلانْصَارِ، فَھَاجَرَ الُٔطفَیْلُ، وَھَاجرَ مَعَہُ رَجُل’‘ مِنْ قَوْمِہِ، فَمَرِضَ الرَٔجُلُ فضَجِرَ۔ أْوکَلِمَۃ’‘ شَبیْھَۃ’‘ َبھَا۔فَحَبَا اإِلی، قَرْن، فَأَخَزَ مِشْقَصَا فَقَطَعَ وَدْجَیْی فَمَاتَ، فَرَاَہُ الْطَٔفَیْلُ ِفي الُمَنَامِ قَالَ: مَافُعِلَ بِکَ؟ قَالَ: غُفِرِلِيْ بِھِجْرَتِيِ اإِنٔی النَٔبِی ﷺ ،قَالَ: مَاشَأُنُ یَدَیْکَ؟ قَالَ: فَقِیْلَ: اإِنَٔا لَا نُصْلَحُ مِنُکَ مَا أَقْسدْتَ مِنْ یَدَیْکَ، قَالَ: فَقَٔصھَا الطُٔفَیْلُ عَلیاالنَٔبِیً ﷺ ، فَقَالَ: ((اللھُٔمَٔ وَلَیَدیْہ فَاغْفِر،)) وَرَفَعَ یَدَیْہِ۔ بَابٌ: سَیَّدُ الاِسْتِغْفَار

Jabir ibn 'Abdullah reported that at-Tufayl ibn 'Amr asked the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, "Do you want a fortress and a citadel? The fortress of Daws." The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, refused it because of what Allah had stored up for the Ansar. At-Tufayl made hijra and a man of his people made hijra with him. The man fell ill and was in torment (or words to that effect) and he crawled over to a quiver, took out an arrow, sliced his veins and died. At- Tufayl saw him a dream and asked him, "What has been done to you?" He replied, "I was forgiven because of my hijra to the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace." He asked, "What happened to your hands?" He replied, "It was said, 'We will not put right in you that part of your hands which you destroyed.'" He said that at-Tufayl related that tot he Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, and the Prophet said, "O Allah, forgive his hands!" and he raised his hands when he said it.

حَدَٔثَنَا أَبُوْ مَعْمَرِ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ قَالَ: حَدَٔثَنَا عَبْدُالْعَذِیْزِ بْنُ صُھَیْبِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکَ ؓ قَالَ: َکانَ رَسُوْلُ اللہِ ﷺ یَتَعَؤَدُ یَقُولُ :((اللَٔھَٔمَٔ اإِنَٔي أَعُوْ ذُبَکَ مَنَ الْکَسَلِ وَأَعُوْذُبِکَ مِنَ اْلجُبْنِ، وَأَعُوْ ذُبِکَ مِنَ الْھَرَمِ، وَأَعُوْذُبِکَ مَنَ اْلُبْخلِ))

Anas ibn Malik said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, used to seek refuge with Allah, saying, 'O Allah, I seek refuge with you from laziness. I seek refuge with You from cowardice. I seek refuge with you from senility. I seek refuge with You from miserliness.'"
