حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ شُفَيٍّ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The people started asking about prayer when travelling. He said: When the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) departed from his family, he would only pray two rak'ahs [in a prescribed four rak'ah] prayer until he came back to his family.

It was narrated that Sa'eed bin Shufay said: I was with Ibn 'Abbas (RA)... And he mentioned the same hadeeth .

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ عَنِ النَّضْرِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُوَ يُفْتِي النَّاسَ لَا يُسْنِدُ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ شَيْئًا مِنْ فُتْيَاهُ حَتَّى جَاءَهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ وَإِنِّي أُصَوِّرُ هَذِهِ التَّصَاوِيرَ فَقَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ادْنُهْ إِمَّا مَرَّتَيْنِ أَوْ ثَلَاثًا فَدَنَا فَقَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ صَوَّرَ صُورَةً فِي الدُّنْيَا يُكَلَّفُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَنْ يَنْفُخَ فِيهِ الرُّوحَ وَلَيْسَ بِنَافِخٍ

Sa'eed narrated that an- Nadr bin Anas said: I was with Ibn 'Abbas when he was advising the people, and he was not attributing any of his fatwas to the Prophet of Allah (PBUH), until a man from Iraq came to him and said: I am from Iraq and I make these images. Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said to him: Come nearer - two or three times - so he came nearer. Then Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: Whoever makes an image in this world will be told on the Day of Resurrection to breathe the soul into it, but he will not be able to do that."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْأَيِّمُ أَحَقُّ بِنَفْسِهَا مِنْ وَلِيِّهَا وَالْبِكْرُ تُسْتَأْذَنُ فِي نَفْسِهَا وَإِذْنُهَا صُمَاتُهَا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The previously married woman has more right to decide concerning herself (i.e., her marriage) than her guardian and the virgin should be asked concerning herself, and her permission is her silence."

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ مَخْرَمَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ بَاتَ عِنْدَ مَيْمُونَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهِيَ خَالَتُهُ قَالَ فَاضْطَجَعْتُ فِي عَرْضِ الْوِسَادَةِ وَاضْطَجَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَهْلُهُ فِي طُولِهَا فَنَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى إِذَا انْتَصَفَ اللَّيْلُ أَوْ قَبْلَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ أَوْ بَعْدَهُ بِقَلِيلٍ اسْتَيْقَظَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَلَسَ يَمْسَحُ النَّوْمَ عَنْ وَجْهِهِ بِيَدِهِ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ الْعَشْرَ الْآيَاتِ خَوَاتِيمَ سُورَةِ آلِ عِمْرَانَ ثُمَّ قَامَ إِلَى شَنٍّ مُعَلَّقَةٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهَا فَأَحْسَنَ وُضُوءَهُ ثُمَّ قَامَ يُصَلِّي قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ فَقُمْتُ فَصَنَعْتُ مِثْلَ الَّذِي صَنَعَ ثُمَّ ذَهَبْتُ فَقُمْتُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِي وَأَخَذَ أُذُنِي الْيُمْنَى فَفَتَلَهَا فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ أَوْتَرَ ثُمَّ اضْطَجَعَ حَتَّى أَتَاهُ الْمُؤَذِّنُ فَقَامَ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ خَفِيفَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ خَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الصُّبْحَ

It was narrated from Kuraib, the freed slave of Ibn 'Abbas, that 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas (RA) told him that he stayed overnight with Maimoonah, the wife of the Prophet (PBUH), who was his maternal aunt. He said: I lay crosswise on the bed and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and his wife lay lengthwise on it. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) slept until halfway through the night or a little before that or a little after it. The Messenger of Allah sat up, wiping the sleep from his face with his hand, then he recited the last ten verses of Soorah Al- 'Imran. Then he got up and went to a waterskin that was hanging there, and did wudoo' from it, doing wudoo ' properly, then he stood and prayed. Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: Then I got up and did the same as he had done, and I went and stood beside him. He put his right hand on my head and took hold of my right ear and twisted it. Then he prayed two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then two rak'ahs, then he prayed Witr. Then he lay down until the mu'adhdhin came to him. Then he got up and prayed two brief rak’ahs, then he went out and prayed Fajr.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَمَّارِ بْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمَنَامِ بِنِصْفِ النَّهَارِ أَشْعَثَ أَغْبَرَ مَعَهُ قَارُورَةٌ فِيهَا دَمٌ يَلْتَقِطُهُ أَوْ يَتَتَبَّعُ فِيهَا شَيْئًا قَالَ قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا هَذَا قَالَ دَمُ الْحُسَيْنِ وَأَصْحَابِهِ لَمْ أَزَلْ أَتَتَبَّعُهُ مُنْذُ الْيَوْمَ قَالَ عَمَّارٌ فَحَفِظْنَا ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ فَوَجَدْنَاهُ قُتِلَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: I saw the Prophet (PBUH) in a dream when I slept in the middle of the day; {he appeared) dishevelled and dusty, and he had with him a bottle in which there was blood that he was picking up or something that he was putting in it. I said: O Messenger of Allah, what is this? He said: "The blood of al-Husain and his companions; i have been collecting it all day." 'Ammar said: We remembered that day, and we found out that he had been killed on that day.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ أَبِي الْحَكَمِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَتْ قُرَيْشٌ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ادْعُ لَنَا رَبَّكَ أَنْ يَجْعَلَ لَنَا الصَّفَا ذَهَبًا وَنُؤْمِنُ بِكَ قَالَ وَتَفْعَلُونَ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ فَدَعَا فَأَتَاهُ جِبْرِيلُ فَقَالَ إِنَّ رَبَّكَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكَ السَّلَامَ وَيَقُولُ إِنْ شِئْتَ أَصْبَحَ لَهُمْ الصَّفَا ذَهَبًا فَمَنْ كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مِنْهُمْ عَذَّبْتُهُ عَذَابًا لَا أُعَذِّبُهُ أَحَدًا مِنْ الْعَالَمِينَ وَإِنْ شِئْتَ فَتَحْتُ لَهُمْ بَابَ التَّوْبَةِ وَالرَّحْمَةِ قَالَ بَلْ بَابُ التَّوْبَةِ وَالرَّحْمَةِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: Quraish said to the Prophet (PBUH): Pray to your Lord and ask Him to make as- Safa gold for us, and we will believe in you. He said: "Will you do that?" They said: Yes. So he prayed, and Jibreel came to him and said: "Your Lord, may He be glorified and exalted, conveys greetings of salam to you and says to you: 'If you wish, as-Safa will become gold for them, then whoever among them disbelieves after that, I will punish him in a way that I have never punished anyone in the worlds. Or if you wish, I will open for them the gate of repentance and mercy.'" He said: "Rather the gate of repentance and mercy."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْعَالِيَةِ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ عَمِّ نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا يَنْبَغِي لِأَحَدٍ أَنْ يَقُولَ أَنَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ مَتَّى وَنَسَبَهُ إِلَى أَبِيهِ

It was narrated that Qatadah said; I heard Abul- 'Aliyah say: The paternal cousin of your Prophet (PBUH) meaning Ibn 'Abbas - said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "It is not appropriate for anyone to say, I am better than Yoonus bin Matta." And he mentioned the name of his [Yoonus' s] father.

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ مَالِكٍ عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ الْمَكِّيِّ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ الْيَمَانِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُعَلِّمُهُمْ الدُّعَاءَ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُهُمْ السُّورَةَ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ يَقُولُ قُولُوا اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to teach them this du'a' as he would teach them a soorah from the Qur'an. He said: "Say: 'O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of Hell, I seek refuge with You from the punishment of the grave, I seek refuge with You from the tribulation of the Dajjal, and 1 seek refuge with You from the trials of life and death.'"

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي الْفُرَاتِ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَطَاءٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ صَلَّى نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِالنَّاسِ يَوْمَ فِطْرٍ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ ثُمَّ خَطَبَ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ ثُمَّ أَخَذَ بِيَدِ بِلَالٍ فَانْطَلَقَ إِلَى النِّسَاءِ فَخَطَبَهُنَّ ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِلَالًا بَعْدَمَا قَفَّى مِنْ عِنْدِهِنَّ أَنْ يَأْتِيَهُنَّ فَيَأْمُرَهُنَّ أَنْ يَتَصَدَّقْنَ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Prophet of Allah (PBUH) led the people in praying two rak'ahs on the day of al-Fitr with no adhan and no iqamah, then he addressed them after the prayer. Then he took the hand of Bilal and went to the women and addressed them. Then after he left them he instructed Bilal to go back to them and tell them to give charity.

حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ مِنْ كِتَابِهِ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْأُمَوِيُّ قَالَ الْأَعْمَشُ حَدَّثَنَا عَنْ طَارِقٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ قَالَ قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ أَذَقْتَ أَوَائِلَ قُرَيْشٍ نَكَالًا فَأَذِقْ آخِرَهُمْ نَوَالًا

Ibn 'Abbas (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "O Allah, You sent Your punishment upon Quraish at the beginning, so bless them in the end."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ شَهِدْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعِيدَ وَأَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ وَعُثْمَانَ فَكُلُّهُمْ صَلَّى قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ بِغَيْرِ أَذَانٍ وَلَا إِقَامَةٍ

It was narrated that lbn 'Abbas (RA) said: I was present on Eid with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), Abu Bakr, 'Umar and 'Usman, All of them prayed before the khutbah, with no adhan and no iqamah .
