It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) delayed 'Isha' prayer until some people fell asleep, some prayed tahajjud, and some stayed awake. Then he came out and the iqaamah (call immediately preceding the prayer) was given, and he said: "Were it not that it would be too difficult for my ummah, I would have instructed them to pray at this time.

It was narrated that Saalim said: 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar used to issue fatwas based on that which Allah (PBUH) had revealed of the concession allowing tamattu' in Hajj, and based on the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), then some people said to Ibn 'Umar: How come you go against your father when he has forbidden that? 'Abdullah said to them: We to you! Do you not fear Allah? 'Umar forbade that, and his intention in doing so was good, because he wanted 'Umrah to fcc done properly and separately. Why do you regard it as haraam when Allah has permitted it and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) did It? Is the way of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) more deserving of being followed or the way of 'Umar? 'Umar did not say to you that 'Unirah in the months of Hajj is haraam; rather he said that the most perfect way of doing 'Umrah is to do it separately from the months of Hajj.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr that his father said: I said to Ibn 'Umar: Why do I see you joining the crowds to reach these two corners (of the Ka'bah)? He said: The reason I do that is because I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "Touching them erases sins." He said: And I heard him say: "Whoever circumambulates this House seven times, counting it properly, for every step he takes, one hasanah will be written for him, one sayyi'ah will be expiated for him, and he will be raised one degree in status thereby, and it will be equivalent to manumitting a slave.
