It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "Asking (of people) will turn into scratches on the face on the Day of Resurrection. Whoever wants to, let him keep his face intact. The least bad kind of asking is asking of a relative whom you ask for something you need, and the best kind of giving is giving when one has the means, and you should start with those you are responsible for."

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar, from the Prophet (PBUH), that he said: "A man will still have hope of Allah's mercy so long as he does not kill anyone unlawfully."

Ishaaq ibn Sa'eed narrated that his father said: Ibn 'Umar entered upon Yahya ibn Sa eed, and (saw that) one of his sons had tied up a chicken bo shoot at it. He (Ibn 'Umar) walked over to the chicken and untied it, then he brought it and the boy to Yahya and said: Prevent this boy of yours from tying this bird up to kill it, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbid tying up animals or any other creatures for the purpose of killing them. If you want to slaughter it, then slaughter it.

It was narrated from Umayyah ibn 'Abdullah ibn Khaalid ibn Aseed that he said to 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar: We find the prayer of the non-traveller and the fear prayer in the Qur'an, but we do not find the prayer of the traveller in the Qur'an. Ibn 'Umar said to him: O son of my brother, before Allah (PBUH) sent Muhammad (PBUH) to os, we did not know anything; we Only do what we saw Muhammad (PBUH) do.

And the people liked their speech. The Prophet (PBUH) stood up and said: "O people, say what you want to say (in a straightforward manner), for elaborate speech is from the Shaytaan." And the Prophet (PBUH) said: "Indeed, some eloquence is (like) magic.”

It was narrated that Sa'eed ibn Jubayr said: Ibn 'Umar came out to us when we were hoping that he would say something to us that we would like. Then a man hastened towards him and said: O Abu 'Abd ar-Rahmaan, what do you say about fighting when there is fitnah (turmoil between Muslims)? For Allah (PBUH) says: "And fight them until there is no more Fitnah" [al-Baqarah 2:193]. He said: Woe to you! do you know what fitnah is? The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) only used to fight the mushrikeen, and joining their religion was fitnah; he was not like you, fighting one another for power!
