قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ قَالَ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى بُصَاقًا فِي جِدَارِ الْقِبْلَةِ فَحَكَّهُ ثُمَّ أَقْبَلَ عَلَى النَّاسِ فَقَالَ إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ يُصَلِّي فَلَا يَبْصُقَنَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ قِبَلَ وَجْهِهِ إِذَا صَلَّى قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ فِي حَدِيثِهِ بُصَاقًا

It was narrated from Naafi' that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) saw some sputum on the wall of the qiblah. He scratched it then he turned to the people and said: "if one of you is praying, let him not spit in front of him, for Allah is in front of him when he prays."

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَلْبَسَ الْمُحْرِمُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا بِزَعْفَرَانٍ أَوْ وَرْسٍ وَقَالَ مَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ نَعْلَيْنِ فَلْيَلْبَسْ خُفَّيْنِ وَلْيَقْطَعْهُمَا أَسْفَلَ مِنْ الْكَعْبَيْنِ

It was narrated that Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade muhrim (pilgrim in lhram) to wear any garment that has been dyed with saffron or wars (memecylon tinctorium, a plant dye), and he said: Whoever cannot find sandals, let him wear Khuffayn and cut them so that they come lower than the ankles.

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ وَحَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ بَيْدَاؤُكُمْ هَذِهِ الَّتِي تَكْذِبُونَ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِيهَا مَا أَهَلَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَّا مِنْ عِنْدِ الْمَسْجِدِ يَعْنِي مَسْجِدَ ذِي الْحُلَيْفَةِ قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ وَقَدْ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ مَالِكٍ

It was narrated from Saalim from his father that he said: This Bayda' of yours is the one concerning which you attribute a lie to the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) only entered lhram from the mosque, i.e., the mosque of Dhu'l-Hulayfah.

قَالَ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ : مَالِكٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكٌ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ جُرَيْجٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ رَأَيْتُكَ تَصْنَعُ أَرْبَعًا لَمْ أَرَ مِنْ أَصْحَابِكَ مَنْ يَصْنَعُهَا قَالَ مَا هُنَّ يَا ابْنَ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ رَأَيْتُكَ لَا تَمَسُّ مِنْ الْأَرْكَانِ إِلَّا الْيَمَانِيَيْنِ وَرَأَيْتُكَ تَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ السِّبْتِيَّةَ وَرَأَيْتُكَ تَصْبُغُ بِالصُّفْرَةِ وَرَأَيْتُكَ إِذَا كُنْتَ بِمَكَّةَ أَهَلَّ النَّاسُ إِذَا رَأَوْا الْهِلَالَ وَلَمْ تُهْلِلْ أَنْتَ حَتَّى يَكُونَ يَوْمُ التَّرْوِيَةِ فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَمَّا الْأَرْكَانُ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَمَسُّ إِلَّا الْيَمَانِيَيْنِ وَأَمَّا النِّعَالُ السِّبْتِيَّةُ فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَلْبَسُ النِّعَالَ الَّتِي لَيْسَ فِيهَا شَعَرٌ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ فِيهَا فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَلْبَسَهَا وَأَمَّا الصُّفْرَةُ فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْبُغُ بِهَا فَأَنَا أُحِبُّ أَنْ أَصْبُغَ بِهَا وَأَمَّا الْإِهْلَالُ فَإِنِّي لَمْ أَرَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُهِلُّ حَتَّى تَنْبَعِثَ بِهِ نَاقَتُهُ

It was narrated from Abdullah ibn 'Umar: O Abu 'Abd Al-Rahmaan, I have seen you doing four things that I have not seen any of your companions doing. He said: What are they, O Ibn Jmayj? He said: I saw that you do not touch any of the corners (of the Ka'bah) except the two Yemeni comers, and I saw you wearing sandals of tanned leather and I saw you dyeing your hair with sufrah (henna), and when you were in Makkah, I saw the people entering ihraam when they saw the new moon, but you did not enter ihram until the day of al-Tarwiyah (the eighth day of Dhu'l-Hijjah). 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: As for the corners, I did not see the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) touch any but the two Yemeni comers. As for the sandals of tanned leather, I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) wearing sandals of leather on which there was no hair and doing wudoo' when wearing them (i.e., washing his feet and then putting on the sandals when his feet were still wet), so I like to wear them. As for the sufrah, I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) dyeing Ins hair with it and i like to dye my hair with it. As for entering ihram, I did not see the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) enter ihram until the day he set out for Mina

حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْهَاشِمِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْجُمَحِيُّ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَضَ زَكَاةَ الْفِطْرِ مِنْ رَمَضَانَ صَاعًا مِنْ تَمْرٍ أَوْ صَاعًا مِنْ شَعِيرٍ عَلَى كُلِّ حُرٍّ أَوْ عَبْدٍ ذَكَرٍ أَوْ أُنْثَى مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) enjoined zakaat al-fitr after Ramadan, a saa' of dates or a saa' of barley, on everyone, free or slave, male or female, of the Muslims.

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمٌ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بَيْنَمَا رَجُلٌ يَجُرُّ إِزَارَهُ مِنْ الْخُيَلَاءِ خُسِفَ بِهِ فَهُوَ يَتَجَلْجَلُ فِي الْأَرْضِ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

It was narrated from az-Zuhri Saalim told me that Ibn Umar told him that the messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Whilst a man was letting his izaar drag out of pride, he was swallowed up by the earth, and he will remain sinking down into the earth until the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي ابْنَ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ صَلَاةِ اللَّيْلِ فَقَالَ صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى تُسَلِّمُ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَتَيْنِ فَإِذَا خِفْتَ الصُّبْحَ فَصَلِّ رَكْعَةً تُوتِرُ لَكَ مَا قَبْلَهَا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and asked him about prayer at night. He said: "The night prayers am two (rak'ahs) by two, saying the tasleem after each two rak'ahs, then when you fear that dawn is approaching, pray one rak'ah (Witr) so as to malm what you have prayed before it odd-numbered.”

حَدَّثَنَا يَعْمَرُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمَّا مَرَّ بِالْحِجْرِ قَالَ لَا تَدْخُلُوا مَسَاكِنَ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا إِلَّا أَنْ تَكُونُوا بَاكِينَ أَنْ يُصِيبَكُمْ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ وَتَقَنَّعَ بِرِدَائِهِ وَهُوَ عَلَى الرَّحْلِ

It was narrated from az-Zuhri; Saalim ibn 'Abdullah told me, from his father, that the Prophet (PBUH) said when he passed by al-Hijr (the Rocky Tract) : “Do not enter the dwellings of those who did wrong, unless you are weeping, lest there befall you what befell them.” And he covered his head with his cloak whilst he was on his mount.

حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ مَعْرُوفٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ وَقَالَ مَرَّةً حَيْوَةُ عَنِ ابْنِ الْهَادِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ يَا مَعْشَرَ النِّسَاءِ تَصَدَّقْنَ وَأَكْثِرْنَ فَإِنِّي رَأَيْتُكُنَّ أَكْثَرَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ لِكَثْرَةِ اللَّعْنِ وَكُفْرِ الْعَشِيرِ مَا رَأَيْتُ مِنْ نَاقِصَاتِ عَقْلٍ وَدِينٍ أَغْلَبَ لِذِي لُبٍّ مِنْكُنَّ قَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا نُقْصَانُ الْعَقْلِ وَالدِّينِ قَالَ أَمَّا نُقْصَانُ الْعَقْلِ وَالدِّينِ فَشَهَادَةُ امْرَأَتَيْنِ تَعْدِلُ شَهَادَةَ رَجُلٍ فَهَذَا نُقْصَانُ الْعَقْلِ وَتَمْكُثُ اللَّيَالِيَ لَا تُصَلِّي وَتُفْطِرُ فِي رَمَضَانَ فَهَذَا نُقْصَانُ الدِّينِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "O women, give in charity and give a great deal, for I have seen that you are the majority of the people of Hell, because you curse a great deal and are ungrateful to your husbands. I have never seen anyone so lacking in reason and religious commitment, more overwhelming to a man of wisdom and reason than you." She said: O Messenger of Allah, what does lacking in reason and religious commitment mean? He said: "As for lacking in reason, the testimony of two women is equivalent to the testimony of one man - this is lacking in reason. And (a woman) does not pray for several days, and she does not fast (during her menses) in Kamadaan - this is lacking in religious commitment."

حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا خَيْرٌ مِنْ الْيَدِ السُّفْلَى الْيَدُ الْعُلْيَا الْمُنْفِقَةُ وَالْيَدُ السُّفْلَى السَّائِلَةُ

It was narrated that Ibn "Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The upper hand is better than the lower hand, and the upper hand is the one that gives and the lower hand is the one that receives."

حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ أَخْبَرَنَا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَ بِزَكَاةِ الْفِطْرِ أَنْ تُؤَدَّى قَبْلَ خُرُوجِ النَّاسِ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) instructed that zakaat Al-fitr be paid before the people went out for the (PBUH) prayer.

It was narrated that 'Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Whoever swears by anything other than Allah.” And he spoke sternly about it.
