حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ حُسَيْنٍ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ سَالِمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ لَمَّا تَأَيَّمَتْ حَفْصَةُ وَكَانَتْ تَحْتَ خُنَيْسِ بْنِ حُذَافَةَ لَقِيَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ عُثْمَانَ فَعَرَضَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ مَا لِي فِي النِّسَاءِ حَاجَةٌ وَسَأَنْظُرُ فَلَقِيَ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَعَرَضَهَا عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ فَوَجَدَ عُمَرُ فِي نَفْسِهِ عَلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ فَإِذَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ خَطَبَهَا فَلَقِيَ عُمَرُ أَبَا بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ إِنِّي كُنْتُ عَرَضْتُهَا عَلَى عُثْمَانَ فَرَدَّنِي وَإِنِّي عَرَضْتُهَا عَلَيْكَ فَسَكَتَّ عَنِّي فَلَأَنَا عَلَيْكَ كُنْتُ أَشَدَّ غَضَبًا مِنِّي عَلَى عُثْمَانَ وَقَدْ رَدَّنِي فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَ ذَكَرَ مِنْ أَمْرِهَا وَكَانَ سِرًّا فَكَرِهْتُ أَنْ أُفْشِيَ السِّرَّ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: When Hafsah was widowed, having been married to Khunays ibn Hudhaafah, 'Umar met 'Uthmaan and offered her to him in marriage, but 'Uthmaan said: I am not interested in getting married, but I shall think about it. Then he met Abu Bakr and offered her to him in marriage, but he remained silent (and did not answer), and 'Umar felt upset with Abu Bakr. Then when tbe Messenger of Allah (PBUH) proposed to her, 'Umar met Abu Bakr and said: I offered her in marriage to Uthmaan and he refused, and I offered her in marriage to you and you kept quiet, and I was more upset with you than with 'Uthmaan, for he answered me Abu Bakr said: (The Prophet (PBUH)) had mentioned her, but it was a secret, and I did not want to divulge the secret.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بَنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ كَانَ مُتَحَرِّيَهَا فَلْيَتَحَرَّهَا لَيْلَةَ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ وَقَالَ تَحَرَّوْهَا لَيْلَةَ سَبْعٍ وَعِشْرِينَ يَعْنِي لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever wants to seek it, let him seek it on the night of the twenty-seventh'' Or he said: "Seek it on the night erf the twenty-seventh" i.e., Laylat al-Qadr.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْحَنْتَمَةِ قِيلَ وَمَا الْحَنْتَمَةِ قَالَ الْجَرَّةُ يَعْنِي النَّبِيذَ

It was narrated that Han 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade green glazed pitchers. It was said: What are green glazed pitchers? He said: Earthenware jars. What was meant was making nabeedh in them.

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ ذَكْوَانَ يَعْنِي الْمُعَلِّمَ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ طَاوُسٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ وَابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ رَفَعَاهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا يَحِلُّ لِرَجُلٍ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ الْعَطِيَّةَ فَيَرْجِعَ فِيهَا إِلَّا الْوَالِدَ فِيمَا يُعْطِي وَلَدَهُ وَمَثَلُ الَّذِي يُعْطِي الْعَطِيَّةَ ثُمَّ يَرْجِعُ فِيهَا كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ أَكَلَ حَتَّى إِذَا شَبِعَ قَاءَ ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فِي قَيْئِهِ

It was narrated from Tawoos that Ibn 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbaas attributed to the Prophet (PBUH) the words: "It is not permissible for a man to be given a gift and then take it back, except in the case of what a father gives to his son. The likeness of the one who gives a gift then takes it back is that Of the dog that eats its fill and vomits, then goes back to its vomit."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عَمْرِو الْجُمَحِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بْنِ مُوسَى قَالَ كُنْتُ مَعَ سَالِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ فَمَرَّتْ رُفْقَةٌ لِأُمِّ الْبَنِينَ فِيهَا أَجْرَاسٌ فَحَدَّثَ سَالِمٌ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَا تَصْحَبُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ رَكْبًا مَعَهُمْ الْجُلْجُلُ فَكَمْ تَرَى فِي هَؤُلَاءِ مِنْ جُلْجُلٍ

Naafi' ibn 'Umar narrated that Abu bakr ibn Moosa said: I was with Saalim ibn 'Abdullah Ibn ‘Umar when a company of travellers from Umm al-Baneen past, and they had some bells with them. Saalim narrated from his father from the Prophet (PBUH) that he said: "The angels do accompany a party of riders who have bells on their animals' pecks." How many bells do you think these people have?

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الصِّدِّيقِ هُوَ النَّاجِيُّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِذَا وَضَعْتُمْ مَوْتَاكُمْ فِي الْقَبْرِ فَقُولُوا بِسْمِ اللَّهِ وَعَلَى مِلَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbaas that the Prophet (PBUH) said: "When you place your deceased in the grave, say: In the name of Allah and in accordance with the religion of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)."

حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامُ بْنُ يَحْيَى عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْحَكَمِ الْبَجَلِيِّ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ اتَّخَذَ كَلْبًا غَيْرَ كَلْبِ زَرْعٍ أَوْ ضَرْعٍ أَوْ صَيْدٍ نَقَصَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ قِيرَاطٌ فَقُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ إِنْ كَانَ فِي دَارٍ وَأَنَا لَهُ كَارِهٌ قَالَ هُوَ عَلَى رَبِّ الدَّارِ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُهَا

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever keeps a dog except a dog for farming, herding livestock or hunting, two qiraats will be deducted from his reward every day." I said to Ibn ‘Umar: What if it (the dog) is in a house and I dislike it? He said: Ohe sin) will be upon the owner of the house.

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ رُؤْيَا رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي أَبِي بَكْرٍ وَعُمَرَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ النَّاسَ قَدْ اجْتَمَعُوا فَقَامَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَنَزَعَ ذَنُوبًا أَوْ ذَنُوبَيْنِ وَفِي نَزْعِهِ ضَعْفٌ وَاللَّهُ يَغْفِرُ لَهُ ثُمَّ نَزَعَ عُمَرُ فَاسْتَحَالَتْ غَرْبًا فَمَا رَأَيْتُ عَبْقَرِيًّا مِنْ النَّاسِ يَفْرِي فَرِيَّهُ حَتَّى ضَرَبَ النَّاسُ بِعَطَنٍ

It was narrated from Ibn Umar, concerning a dream of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) about Abu Bakr and ‘Umar, that he (the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: I saw the peopl e had gathers, then Abu Bakr came and drew one or two buckets [from a well], but there was some weakness in his drawing. May Allah forgive him. Then 'Umar tin al-Khattaab came and the bucket turned into a very large one in hs hands. I had never seen such a mighty person as he in doing such hard work, until all the people drank to their satisfaction,"

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا وَقَبَضَ إِبْهَامَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ

'Amr ibn Dinar narrated that he heard 'Abdullah ibn Umar say: i heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "The month is like this and like this and like thi.” and he tucked his thumb away the third time.

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْأَخْنَسِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْخَيْلُ فِي نَوَاصِيهَا الْخَيْرُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

It was narrated that Abdullah ibn 'Umar said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Goodness is tied to the forelocks of horses until the Day of Resurrection."

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ

Its was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: “Wala’ (the right to inherit from a freed slave) belongs to the one who manumits the slave."

حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ حَنْطَبٍ قَالَ كَانَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ يَتَوَضَّأُ ثَلَاثًا يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَكَانَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ يَتَوَضَّأُ مَرَّةً يَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

It was narrated that al-Muttalib ibn ' Abdullah lbn Hantab said: Ibn 'Umar used to do wudoo' washing each part three times, and he attributed that to the Prophet (PBUH) and Ibn 'Abbaas used to do wudoo' washing each part once, and he attributed that to the Prophet (PBUH).
