حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ غَفَلَةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكُونُ فِي آخِرِ الزَّمَانِ قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ يَمْرُقُونَ مِنْ الْإِسْلَامِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنْ الرَّمِيَّةِ قِتَالُهُمْ حَقٌّ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ

It was narrated that 'Ali (RA)said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: 'At the end of time, there will be people who recite Qur'an but it will go no further than their collarbones; they will pass out of Islam as the arrow passes out of the prey. Fighting them is a duty upon every Muslim."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ الْمُضَرِّبِ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ وَأَبُو النَّضْرِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ حَارِثَةَ بْنِ مُضَرِّبٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كُنَّا إِذَا احْمَرَّ الْبَأْسُ وَلَقِيَ الْقَوْمُ الْقَوْمَ اتَّقَيْنَا بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَمَا يَكُونُ مِنَّا أَحَدٌ أَدْنَى مِنْ الْقَوْمِ مِنْهُ

It was narrated that 'Ali (RA) said: When the fighting intensified and the two sides met in battle, we sought shelter with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and no one was closer to the enemy than him.

حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ آدَمَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ وَقَفَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِعَرَفَةَ فَقَالَ هَذَا الْمَوْقِفُ وَعَرَفَةُ كُلُّهَا مَوْقِفٌ ثُمَّ أَرْدَفَ أُسَامَةَ فَجَعَلَ يُعْنِقُ عَلَى نَاقَتِهِ وَالنَّاسُ يَضْرِبُونَ الْإِبِلَ يَمِينًا وَشِمَالًا لَا يَلْتَفِتُ إِلَيْهِمْ وَيَقُولُ السَّكِينَةَ أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ وَدَفَعَ حِينَ غَابَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَأَتَى جَمْعًا فَصَلَّى بِهَا الصَّلَاتَيْنِ يَعْنِي الْمَغْرِبَ وَالْعِشَاءَ ثُمَّ بَاتَ بِهَا فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ وَقَفَ عَلَى قُزَحَ فَقَالَ هَذَا قُزَحُ وَهُوَ الْمَوْقِفُ وَجَمْعٌ كُلُّهَا مَوْقِفٌ قَالَ ثُمَّ سَارَ فَلَمَّا أَتَى مُحَسِّرًا قَرَعَهَا فَخَبَّتْ حَتَّى جَازَ الْوَادِيَ ثُمَّ حَبَسَهَا وَأَرْدَفَ الْفَضْلَ ثُمَّ سَارَ حَتَّى أَتَى الْجَمْرَةَ فَرَمَاهَا ثُمَّ أَتَى الْمَنْحَرَ فَقَالَ هَذَا الْمَنْحَرُ وَمِنًى كُلُّهَا مَنْحَرٌ ثُمَّ أَتَتْهُ امْرَأَةٌ شَابَّةٌ مِنْ خَثْعَمَ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ أَبِي شَيْخٌ قَدْ أَفْنَدَ وَقَدْ أَدْرَكَتْهُ فَرِيضَةُ اللَّهِ فِي الْحَجِّ فَهَلْ يُجْزِئُ أَنْ أَحُجَّ عَنْهُ قَالَ نَعَمْ فَأَدِّي عَنْ أَبِيكِ قَالَ وَلَوَى عُنُقَ الْفَضْلِ فَقَالَ لَهُ الْعَبَّاسُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا لَكَ لَوَيْتَ عُنُقَ ابْنِ عَمِّكَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ شَابًّا وَشَابَّةً فَخِفْتُ الشَّيْطَانَ عَلَيْهِمَا قَالَ وَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ أَفَضْتُ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَحْلِقَ قَالَ فَاحْلِقْ أَوْ قَصِّرْ وَلَا حَرَجَ قَالَ وَأَتَى زَمْزَمَ فَقَالَ يَا بَنِي عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ سِقَايَتَكُمْ لَوْلَا أَنْ يَغْلِبَكُمْ النَّاسُ عَلَيْهَا لَنَزَعْتُ

It was narrated that 'Ali (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah stood at 'Arafah and said: "This is the place of standing and all of 'Arafah is a place of standing.” Then he put Usamah behind him (on his mount) and moved on at a measured pace on his camel, and the people were urging their camels on, right and left. He did not turn to them, but he said: "Calmly, O people." Then he came to Jam' and offered two prayers there - i.e., Maghrib and 'Isha'. Then he stayed there all night, and when morning came he stood at Quzah, and said: "This is Quzah. This is the place of standing and all of Jam' is a place of standing." Then he moved on and when he came to Muhassir, he struck his she-camel and she trotted until he crossed the valley, then he reined her in and put al-Fadl behind him (on his mount). He carried on until he came to the Jamrah. He stoned it, then he came to the place of sacrifice and said: "This is the place of sacrifice and all of Mina is a place of sacrifice." Then a young woman of Khath'am came to him and said: My father is an old man and has become senile; he has lived until Allah made Hajj obligatory. Will it be acceptable if I perform Hajj on his behalf? He said: "Yes; perform Hajj on behalf of your father." And he turned al-Fadl's neck. A!-' Abbas said to him: O Messenger of Allah, why did you turn the neck of your cousin? He said: "I saw a young man and a young woman and I was afraid that the Shaitan [might tempt] them." A man came to him and said: O Messenger of Allah, I did tazvaful-ifadah before shaving my head. He said: "Go ahead and shave your head or cut your hair, there is no problem." And he came to Zamzam and said: "O Banu 'Abdul-Muttalib, it is your right to draw water for pilgrims. Were it not that the people would overwhelm you, I would have drawn water myself."

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْبَرِيدِ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْحَنَفِيِّ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ قَالَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِي عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَانْطَلَقْنَا نَمْشِي حَتَّى جَلَسْنَا عَلَى شَطِّ الْفُرَاتِ فَقَالَ عَلِيٌّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا مِنْ نَفْسٍ مَنْفُوسَةٍ إِلَّا قَدْ سَبَقَ لَهَا مِنْ اللَّهِ شَقَاءٌ أَوْ سَعَادَةٌ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ فِيمَ إِذًا نَعْمَلُ قَالَ اعْمَلُوا فَكُلٌّ مُيَسَّرٌ لِمَا خُلِقَ لَهُ ثُمَّ قَرَأَ هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَأَمَّا مَنْ أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى إِلَى قَوْلِهِ فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى

It was narrated that Abu 'Abdur-Rahman as-SuIami said: 'Ali (RA) took me by the hand and we set out walking until we sat down on the banks of the Euphrates. 'Ali (RA)said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "There is no living soul but Allah has already decreed whether it is doomed or blessed.' A man stood up and said: O Messenger of Allah, why should we strive? He said: "Strive, for each person will be helped to do that for which he was created." Then he recited this verse: "As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, And believes in Al-Husna, We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). But he who is greedy miser and thinks himself self-sufficient, and belies Al-Husna, We will make smooth for him the path for evil" [al-Lail 92:5-10],

أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ ← مُسْلِمٍ الْبَطِينِ ← إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْحَنَفِيِّ ← هَاشِمٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْبَرِيدِ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ الْوَادِعِيِّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بَالَ فِي الرَّحَبَةِ ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ فَتَوَضَّأَ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَتَمَضْمَضَ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا وَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ وَغَسَلَ قَدَمَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَعَلَ كَالَّذِي رَأَيْتُمُونِي فَعَلْتُ

It was narrated that Abu Hayyah al-Wadi'i said: I saw 'Ali (RA) urinate in ar-Rahbah, then he called for water and did wudoo'. He washed his hands three times, rinsed his mouth and nose three times, washed his face three times, washed his forearms three times each, wiped his head and washed his feet three times each. Then he said: I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) do as you have seen me do.

أَبِي حَيَّةَ الْوَادِعِيِّ ← أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ← اِسْرَائِیْلُ ← وَكِيعٌ، ← إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرٌ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا

It was narrated from 'Ali (RA) that the Prophet (PBUH) did wudoo' washing each part three times.

عَلِيٍّ، ← أَبِي حَيَّةَ ← أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ← سُفْيَانَ، ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، ← زُهَيْرٌ أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ تَوَضَّأَ فَأَنْقَى كَفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ قَدَمَيْهِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَامَ فَشَرِبَ فَضْلَ وَضُوئِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُرِيَكُمْ طُهُورَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

It was narrated that Abu Hayyah said: I saw 'Ali (RA) do wudoo'. He washed his hands thoroughly, then he washed his face three times and his forearms three times; then he wiped his head, then he washed his feet up to the ankles. Then he stood up and drank the leftover wudoo’ water. Then he said: I wanted to show you the wudoo' of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH).

أَبِي حَيَّةَ ← أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ← أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ، ← أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ الْفَزَارِيُّ عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ نَافِعٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مَطَرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ وَكَانَ قَدْ أَدْرَكَ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ عَلِيًّا اشْتَرَى ثَوْبًا بِثَلَاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ فَلَمَّا لَبِسَهُ قَالَ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَزَقَنِي مِنْ الرِّيَاشِ مَا أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ وَأُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي ثُمَّ قَالَ هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ

Abu Matar al-Basri - who met 'Ali (RA) - narrated that 'Ali bought a garment for three dirJiarns and when he put it on he said: Praise be to Allah Who has provided me with a garment with which to beautify myself before the people and cover my 'awrah. Then he said: This is what i heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say.

أَبُو مَطَرٍ الْبَصْرِيُّ، ← الْمُخْتَارُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ، ← مَرْوَانُ الْفَزَارِيُّ، ← سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي حَيَّةَ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يَنْظُرَ إِلَى وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلْيَنْظُرْ إِلَيَّ قَالَ فَتَوَضَّأَ ثَلَاثًا ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ مَسَحَ بِرَأْسِهِ ثُمَّ شَرِبَ فَضْلَ وَضُوئِهِ

It was narrated that Abu Hay yah al-Hamdani said; 'Ali bin Abi Talibr (RA) said: Whoever would like to see the wudoo' of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) let him look at me. He did wudoo’ washing each part three times, then he wiped his head, then he drank the leftover water.

عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ← أَبِي حَيَّةَ الْهَمْدَانِيِّ ← أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ← سُفْيَانَ، ← أَبِي ← سَعِيدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُخْتَارُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ التَّمَّارُ عَنْ أَبِي مَطَرٍ أَنَّهُ رَأَى عَلِيًّا أَتَى غُلَامًا حَدَثًا فَاشْتَرَى مِنْهُ قَمِيصًا بِثَلَاثَةِ دَرَاهِمَ وَلَبِسَهُ إِلَى مَا بَيْنَ الرُّسْغَيْنِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ يَقُولُ وَلَبِسَهُ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَزَقَنِي مِنْ الرِّيَاشِ مَا أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ وَأُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي فَقِيلَ هَذَا شَيْءٌ تَرْوِيهِ عَنْ نَفْسِكَ أَوْ عَنْ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ هَذَا شَيْءٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُهُ عِنْدَ الْكُسْوَةِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي رَزَقَنِي مِنْ الرِّيَاشِ مَا أَتَجَمَّلُ بِهِ فِي النَّاسِ وَأُوَارِي بِهِ عَوْرَتِي

It was narrated from Abu Matar that he saw 'Ali go to a young boy and buy a chemise from him for three dirhams. He put it on, and when it reached his wrists and ankles he said: Praise be to Allah Who has provided me with a garment with which to beautify myself before the people and cover my 'awrah. It was said: Is this something you say yourself or are you narrating it from the Prophet of Allah (PBUH)? He said: This is something that I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say when putting on a garment: "Praise be to Allah Who has provided me with a garment with which to beautify myself before the people and cover my ’awrah.”

أَبِي مَطَرٍ ← مُخْتَارُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ التَّمَّارُ ← مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا مُخْتَارٌ عَنْ أَبِي مَطَرٍ قَالَ بَيْنَا نَحْنُ جُلُوسٌ مَعَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عَلِيٍّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ عَلَى بَابِ الرَّحَبَةِ جَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ أَرِنِي وُضُوءَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ عِنْدَ الزَّوَالِ فَدَعَا قَنْبَرًا فَقَالَ ائْتِنِي بِكُوزٍ مِنْ مَاءٍ فَغَسَلَ كَفَّيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ ثَلَاثًا وَتَمَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا فَأَدْخَلَ بَعْضَ أَصَابِعِهِ فِي فِيهِ وَاسْتَنْشَقَ ثَلَاثًا وَغَسَلَ ذِرَاعَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَاحِدَةً فَقَالَ دَاخِلُهُمَا مِنْ الْوَجْهِ وَخَارِجُهُمَا مِنْ الرَّأْسِ وَرِجْلَيْهِ إِلَى الْكَعْبَيْنِ ثَلَاثًا وَلِحْيَتُهُ تَهْطِلُ عَلَى صَدْرِهِ ثُمَّ حَسَا حَسْوَةً بَعْدَ الْوُضُوءِ ثُمَّ قَالَ أَيْنَ السَّائِلُ عَنْ وُضُوءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَذَا كَانَ وُضُوءُ نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

It was narrated that Abu Matar said: Whilst we were sitting with Ameer al-Mu'mineen 'All in the mosque, at Babur-Rahbah, a man came and said: Show me the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). This was at the time of the meridian. f'Ali] called Qanbar and said: Bring me an earthenware jug of water. He washed his hands and face three times, and rinsed his mouth three times, putting one of his fingers in his mouth. He rinsed his nose three times, washed his forearms three times, and wiped his head once. - [The narrator] said: moving his hands from the sides of his face to the back of his head. And [he washed] his feet up to the ankles three times, and his beard was dripping onto his chest. Then he took a sip of water after doing wudoo’ , and said: Where is the one who was asking about the wudoo’ of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)? This is how the wudoo’ of the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) was.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ وَأَبُو نُعَيْمٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ ابْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ يَقُولُ مَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَجْمَعُ أَبَاهُ وَأُمَّهُ لِأَحَدٍ إِلَّا لِسَعْدٍ قَالَ أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ أَبَوَيْهِ لِأَحَدٍ

It was narrated that Ibn Shaddad said: I heard 'Ali (RA) say: I never heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) mention his father and mother together for anyone except Sa'd. Abu Nu'aim said: mention his parents together.
