Musnad Imam Ahmad Bin Hanble

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ مُنْذُ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ مَا عَلِمْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَامَ يَوْمًا يَتَحَرَّى فَضْلَهُ عَلَى الْأَيَّامِ غَيْرَ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَاءَ وَقَالَ سُفْيَانُ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى إِلَّا هَذَا الْيَوْمَ يَعْنِي عَاشُورَاءَ وَهَذَا الشَّهْرَ شَهْرَ رَمَضَانَ

Sufyan said: 'Ubaidullah bin Abu Yazeed told me seventy years ago: I heard Ibn 'Abbas say: I did not see the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) fast any day, seeking its virtue and superiority over other days, apart from the day of 'Ashoora' - and on one occasion Sufyan said: Except this day, meaning 'Ashoora' - and this month, the month of Ramadan.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي يَزِيدَ مُنْذُ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً ← سُفْيَانَ،

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ أَخْبَرَنِي عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ أَنَا مِمَّنْ قَدَّمَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ فِي ضَعَفَةِ أَهْلِهِ

'Ubaidullah narrated that he heard Ibn 'Abbas say: I am one of those whom the Prophet (PBUH)sent on ahead with the weak ones of his family on the night of Muzdalifah.

مِمَّنْ قَدَّمَ النَّبِيُّ لَيْلَةَ الْمُزْدَلِفَةِ فِي ضَعَفَةِ أَهْلِهِ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ ← سُفْيَانَ،

قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أُمِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعٍ وَنُهِيَ أَنْ يَكُفَّ شَعْرًا أَوْ ثَوْبًا

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was commanded to prostrate on seven (parts) and was forbidden to tuck up his hair and garment.

أَبِيهِ ← ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ، ← سُفْيَانَ،

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمَّارٍ عَنْ سَالِمٍ سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ عَنْ رَجُلٍ قَتَلَ مُؤْمِنًا ثُمَّ تَابَ وَآمَنَ وَعَمِلَ صَالِحًا ثُمَّ اهْتَدَى قَالَ وَيْحَكَ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الْهُدَى سَمِعْتُ نَبِيَّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ يَجِيءُ الْمَقْتُولُ مُتَعَلِّقًا بِالْقَاتِلِ يَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ سَلْ هَذَا فِيمَ قَتَلَنِي وَاللَّهِ لَقَدْ أَنْزَلَهَا اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَى نَبِيِّكُمْ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَا نَسَخَهَا بَعْدَ إِذْ أَنْزَلَهَا قَالَ وَيْحَكَ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الْهُدَى

It was narrated from Salim that Ibn 'Abbas was asked about a man who killed a believer, then he repented and believed and did righteous deeds, then followed true guidance. He said: Woe to you, how could he follow true guidance? I heard your Prophet (PBUH) say: "The slain one will come, holding on to his killer, saying: 'O Lord, ask this one why he killed me" By Allah, Allah revealed it to your Prophet (PBUH) and He did not abrogate it after He revealed it. Woe to you, how can he follow true guidance?

سَالِمٍ سُئِلَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ ← عَمَّارٍ ← سُفْيَانَ،

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا يَزِيدُ عَنِ ابْنِ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كُفِّنَ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ فِي قَمِيصِهِ الَّذِي مَاتَ فِيهِ وَحُلَّةٍ نَجْرَانِيَّةٍ الْحُلَّةُ ثَوْبَانِ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was shrouded in three pieces of cloth: his chemise in which he died and a Najrani ullah (a kind of suit), and the hullah is two pieces of cloth.

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← ابْنِ مِقْسَمٍ، ← يَزِيدُ: ← ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ،

حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ أَنْبَأَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ مِقْسَمٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ مُحْرِمٌ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) was treated with cupping between Makkah and Madinah, when he was fasting and in ihram.

«احْتَجَمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ وَالْمَدِينَةِ وَهُوَ صَائِمٌ مُحْرِمٌ» ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← مِقْسَمٍ، ← يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ، ← ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ،

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْمُكَاتَبِ يَعْتِقُ مِنْهُ بِقَدْرِ مَا أَدَّى دِيَةَ الْحُرِّ وَبِقَدْرِ مَا رَقَّ مِنْهُ دِيَةَ الْعَبْدِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said with regard to the mukatab (a slave who has drawn up a contract of manumission with his master and is buying his freedom in instalments]: "A portion of the diyah of a free man should be paid, commensurate with how much e had paid towards his manumission, and a portion of the diyah of a slave should be paid, commensurate with the extent to which he was still a slave.”

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عِكْرِمَةَ، ← يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، ← هِشَامٍ ← إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ حَدَّثَنِي عَمَّارٌ مَوْلَى بَنِي هِشَامٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ يَقُولُ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً

'Ammar, the freed slave of Banu Hashim, said: I heard Ibn 'Abbas say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) died when he was sixty-five years old.

تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ ابْنُ خَمْسٍ وَسِتِّينَ سَنَةً ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← عَمَّارٌ مَوْلَى بَنِي هِشَامٍ ← خَالِدٌ الْحَذَّاءُ ← إِسْمَاعِيلُ

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ قَابُوسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ آخِرُ شِدَّةٍ يَلْقَاهَا الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمَوْتُ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ قَالَ كَدُرْدِيِّ الزَّيْتِ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ وَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ هُوَ ذَهَابُ الْعُلَمَاءِ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The last hardship the believer faces is death. And he said concerning the verse, "The Day that the sky will be like al-muhl" [al-Ma'arij 70:8]: [This means] the filth of oil. And he said concerning the verse, "during the hours of the night” [Al- 'Imran 3:113]: [This means] in the depths of the night. And he said: Do you know what the disappearance of knowledge is? He said: It is the disappearance of the scholars from the earth.

هُوَ ذَهَابُ الْعُلَمَاءِ مِنْ الْأَرْضِ ← جَوْفُ اللَّيْلِ وَقَالَ هَلْ تَدْرُونَ مَا ذَهَابُ الْعِلْمِ ← كَدُرْدِيِّ الزَّيْتِ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ آنَاءَ اللَّيْلِ ← آخِرُ شِدَّةٍ يَلْقَاهَا الْمُؤْمِنُ الْمَوْتُ وَفِي قَوْلِهِ يَوْمَ تَكُونُ السَّمَاءُ كَالْمُهْلِ ← ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← أَبِيهِ ← قَابُوسَ، ← جَرِيرٌ

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ قَابُوسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي لَيْسَ فِي جَوْفِهِ شَيْءٌ مِنْ الْقُرْآنِ كَالْبَيْتِ الْخَرِبِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The man in whose heart there is nothing of the Qur'an is like a ruined house."

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← أَبِيهِ ← قَابُوسَ، ← جَرِيرٌ

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ قَابُوسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمَكَّةَ ثُمَّ أُمِرَ بِالْهِجْرَةِ وَأُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ وَقُلْ رَبِّ أَدْخِلْنِي مُدْخَلَ صِدْقٍ وَأَخْرِجْنِي مُخْرَجَ صِدْقٍ وَاجْعَلْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ سُلْطَانًا نَصِيرًا

It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet (PBUH) was in Makkah, then he was commanded to migrate and the verse was revealed to him: "And say (O Muhammad (PBUH)): My Lord! Let my entry (to the city of Al- Madinah) be good, and (likewise) my exit (from the city of Makkah) be good. And grant me from You an authority to help me (or a firm sign or a proof" [al-Isra' 17:80].

أَبِيهِ ← قَابُوسَ، ← جَرِيرٌ

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ قَابُوسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَصْلُحُ قِبْلَتَانِ فِي أَرْضٍ وَلَيْسَ عَلَى مُسْلِمٍ جِزْيَةٌ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "There cannot be two qiblahs in one land, and the Muslim does not have to pay jizyah”

ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، ← أَبِيهِ ← قَابُوسَ، ← جَرِيرٌ
