حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ شَهَادَاتُهُمْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ وَأَيْمَانُهُمْ شَهَادَاتِهِمْ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "The best of people are my generation, then those who come after them, then those who come after them, then those who come after them. Then there will come people who will rush to give their testimony before their oath or vice versa (i.e., they will combine their oath and testimony, sometimes putting one before the other, meaning that they will be careless about the issue of testimony and oath),

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّنِي لَأَعْرِفُ آخِرَ أَهْلِ النَّارِ خُرُوجًا مِنْ النَّارِ رَجُلٌ يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا زَحْفًا فَيُقَالُ لَهُ انْطَلِقْ فَادْخُلْ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ فَيَذْهَبُ يَدْخُلُ فَيَجِدُ النَّاسَ قَدْ أَخَذُوا الْمَنَازِلَ قَالَ فَيَرْجِعُ فَيَقُولُ يَا رَبِّ قَدْ أَخَذَ النَّاسُ الْمَنَازِلَ قَالَ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ أَتَذْكُرُ الزَّمَانَ الَّذِي كُنْتَ فِيهِ قَالَ فَيَقُولُ نَعَمْ فَيُقَالُ لَهُ تَمَنَّهْ فَيَتَمَنَّى فَيُقَالُ إِنَّ لَكَ الَّذِي تَمَنَّيْتَ وَعَشَرَةَ أَضْعَافِ الدُّنْيَا قَالَ فَيَقُولُ أَتَسْخَرُ بِي وَأَنْتَ الْمَلِكُ قَالَ فَلَقَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ضَحِكَ حَتَّى بَدَتْ نَوَاجِذُهُ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Verily I know the last of the people of Hell to emerge from Hell, (It will be) a man who will come out of it crawling. It will be said to him: 'Go and enter Paradise. He will go and enter it, and he will find that the people have already occupied their places, so he will go back and say: 'O Lord, the people have already occupied their places.' It will be said, 'Do you remember the time you were in (Hell)?' He will say, 'Yes/ It will be said to him, 'Wish (for whatever you want). So he will wish, then it will be said to him: 'You will have what you wished for and ten times as much as the world. He will say: 'Are You mocking me when You are the Sovereign?"' He said: And I saw the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) smiling so broadly that his molars showed.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَا أَحْسَنْتُ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أُؤَاخَذُ بِمَا عَمِلْتُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ إِذَا أَحْسَنْتَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ لَمْ تُؤَاخَذْ بِمَا عَمِلْتَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ وَإِذَا أَسَأْتَ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ أُخِذْتَ بِالْأَوَّلِ وَالْآخِرِ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: A man came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said: O Messenger of Allah, if I do well in Islam, will I be blamed for what I did during the Jahiliyyah? He said: "If you do well in Islam, you will not be blamed for what you did during the Jahiliyyah, but if you do badly in Islam, you will be blamed for the former and the latter."

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ هُوَ فِيهَا فَاجِرٌ لِيَقْتَطِعَ بِهَا مَالَ امْرِئٍ مُسْلِمٍ لَقِيَ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَهُوَ عَلَيْهِ غَضْبَانُ فَقَالَ الْأَشْعَثُ فِيَّ وَاللَّهِ كَانَ ذَلِكَ كَانَ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَ رَجُلٍ مِنْ الْيَهُودِ أَرْضٌ فَجَحَدَنِي فَقَدَّمْتُهُ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَلَكَ بَيِّنَةٌ قُلْتُ لَا فَقَالَ لِلْيَهُودِيِّ احْلِفْ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِذَنْ يَحْلِفَ فَيَذْهَبَ مَالِي فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَشْتَرُونَ بِعَهْدِ اللَّهِ وَأَيْمَانِهِمْ ثَمَنًا قَلِيلًا إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Whoever swears an oath in which he is lying in order to usurp the property of a Muslim will meet Allah when He is angry with him." Al-Ash'ath bin Qais said: By Allah, that was said concerning me. There was a dispute between me and a Jewish man concerning some land; he denied my right, so I took him to the Prophet (PBUH). The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said to me: "Do you have any proof?" I said: No. He said to the Jewish man: "Swear an oath." I said: O Messenger of Allah, then he will swear an oath and take my property. Then Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, revealed the verse: "Verily, those who purchase a small gain at the cost of Allah's Covenant and their oaths, they shall have no portion in the Hereafter (Paradise). Neither will Allah speak to them nor look at them on the Day of Resurrection nor will He purify them, and they shall have a painful torment" [Al 'Imran 3:77].

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ حَدَّثَنِي عَاصِمٌ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ كُنْتُ أَرْعَى غَنَمًا لِعُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ فَمَرَّ بِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ يَا غُلَامُ هَلْ مِنْ لَبَنٍ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ وَلَكِنِّي مُؤْتَمَنٌ قَالَ فَهَلْ مِنْ شَاةٍ لَمْ يَنْزُ عَلَيْهَا الْفَحْلُ فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِشَاةٍ فَمَسَحَ ضَرْعَهَا فَنَزَلَ لَبَنٌ فَحَلَبَهُ فِي إِنَاءٍ فَشَرِبَ وَسَقَى أَبَا بَكْرٍ ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلضَّرْعِ اقْلِصْ فَقَلَصَ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ بَعْدَ هَذَا فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ عَلِّمْنِي مِنْ هَذَا الْقَوْلِ قَالَ فَمَسَحَ رَأْسِي وَقَالَ يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ فَإِنَّكَ غُلَيِّمٌ مُعَلَّمٌ

It was narrated that Ibn Mas'ood (RA) said: I was tending some sheep belonging to 'Uqbah bin Abi Mu'ait when the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) and Abu Bakr passed by me. He [the Prophet (PBUH)] said: "O boy, do you have any milk?" I said: sheep do not belong to me). He said: "Is there a sheep that has not been impregnated by the ram? I brought a sheep and he wiped its udder and it filled with milk. Then he milked it into a vessel and drank, and he gave some to Abu Bakr to drink. Then he said to the udder: "Dry up” and it did. Then i came to him after that and said: O Messenger of Allah, teach me some of these words. He patted me on the head and said: "May Allah have mercy on you; you are a little boy and you will learn (later)."

حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِ قَالَ فَأَتَاهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ بِصَخْرَةٍ مَنْقُورَةٍ فَاحْتَلَبَ فِيهَا فَشَرِبَ وَشَرِبَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وَشَرِبْتُ قَالَ ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ قُلْتُ عَلِّمْنِي مِنْ هَذَا الْقُرْآنِ قَالَ إِنَّكَ غُلَامٌ مُعَلَّمٌ قَالَ فَأَخَذْتُ مِنْ فِيهِ سَبْعِينَ سُورَةً

It was narrated from 'Asim with his isnad. He said: Abu Bakr brought him a hollowed out stone and he milked [the sheep] into it, then he drank and Abu Bakr drank and I drank. I came to him after that and said: Teach me some of this Qur'an. He said: "You are a boy and you will learn (later)." And I learned seventy soorahs from his lips.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ نَظَرَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ فَوَجَدَ قَلْبَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرَ قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ فَاصْطَفَاهُ لِنَفْسِهِ فَابْتَعَثَهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ ثُمَّ نَظَرَ فِي قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ بَعْدَ قَلْبِ مُحَمَّدٍ فَوَجَدَ قُلُوبَ أَصْحَابِهِ خَيْرَ قُلُوبِ الْعِبَادِ فَجَعَلَهُمْ وُزَرَاءَ نَبِيِّهِ يُقَاتِلُونَ عَلَى دِينِهِ فَمَا رَأَى الْمُسْلِمُونَ حَسَنًا فَهُوَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ حَسَنٌ وَمَا رَأَوْا سَيِّئًا فَهُوَ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ سَيِّئٌ

It was narrated that Abdullah bin Mas'ood (RA) said: Verily Allah looked into the hearts of His slaves and He found that the heart of Muhammad (PBUH) was the best of the hearts of His slaves. So He chose him for Himself and sent him with His Message. Then he looked into the hearts of His slaves after Muhammad, and found the hearts of his Companions were the best of the hearts of His slaves. So he made them the helpers and advisors of His Prophet, to fight to support His religion. So whatever the Muslims think is good is good before Allah, and whatever the Muslims think is bad, is bad before Allah.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَعَلَّكُمْ سَتُدْرِكُونَ أَقْوَامًا يُصَلُّونَ صَلَاةً لِغَيْرِ وَقْتِهَا فَإِذَا أَدْرَكْتُمُوهُمْ فَصَلُّوا فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ فِي الْوَقْتِ الَّذِي تَعْرِفُونَ ثُمَّ صَلُّوا مَعَهُمْ وَاجْعَلُوهَا سُبْحَةً

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah said: "Perhaps you will see people who offer the prayer at the wrong time. If you see them, offer the prayer in your houses at the time you know, then pray with them and make it nafl."

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَاةً فَلَا أَدْرِي زَادَ أَمْ نَقَصَ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قِيلَ لَهُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ هَلْ حَدَثَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ شَيْءٌ قَالَ لَا وَمَا ذَاكَ قَالُوا صَلَّيْتَ كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ فَثَنَى رِجْلَيْهِ فَسَجَدَ سَجْدَتَيْ السَّهْوِ فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّمَا أَنَا بَشَرٌ أَنْسَى كَمَا تَنْسَوْنَ وَإِذَا شَكَّ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي الصَّلَاةِ فَلْيَتَحَرَّ الصَّلَاةَ فَإِذَا سَلَّمَ فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) prayed and I do not know whether he added or omitted something. When he said the salam, it was said to him: O Messenger of Allah, has something new been introduced into the prayer? He said: "No. Why are you asking?" They said: You did such and such in the prayer. He turned to face the qiblah, then he prostrated twice and said the tasleem, then he said: "I am human, I forget as you forget. If one of you is unsure in his prayer, let him try to work out what is correct and proceed on that basis, then prostrate twice."

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا سَمَرَ بَعْدَ الصَّلَاةِ يَعْنِي الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ إِلَّا لِأَحَدِ رَجُلَيْنِ مُصَلٍّ أَوْ مُسَافِرٍ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Staying up after the prayer - i.e., 'Isha prayer - is only for two men: one who is praying or one who is travelling."

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ قَالَ نَاسٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَنُؤَاخَذُ بِأَعْمَالِنَا فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ فَقَالَ مَنْ أَحْسَنَ مِنْكُمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ فَلَا يُؤَاخَذُ بِهِ وَمَنْ أَسَاءَ فَيُؤْخَذُ بِعَمَلِهِ الْأَوَّلِ وَالْآخِرِ

It was narrated that 'Abdullah (RA) said; Some people said: O Messenger of Allah, will we be blamed for our deeds during the Jahiliyyah? He said; "Whoever among you does well in Islam will not be blamed for it, but whoever does badly will be blamed for his earlier and later actions."

حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ عَنْ الرُّكَيْنِ عَنْ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ عَنْ عَمِّهِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَكْرَهُ عَشْرَ خِلَالٍ تَخَتُّمَ الذَّهَبِ وَجَرَّ الْإِزَارِ وَالصُّفْرَةَ يَعْنِي الْخَلُوقَ وَتَغْيِيرَ الشَّيْبِ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ إِنَّمَا يَعْنِي بِذَلِكَ نَتْفَهُ وَعَزْلَ الْمَاءِ عَنْ مَحِلِّهِ وَالرُّقَى إِلَّا بِالْمُعَوِّذَاتِ وَفَسَادَ الصَّبِيِّ غَيْرَ مُحَرِّمِهِ وَعَقْدَ التَّمَائِمِ وَالتَّبَرُّجَ بِالزِّينَةِ لِغَيْرِ مَحِلِّهَا وَالضَّرْبَ بِالْكِعَابِ
