Abu Musa said: “I came from Yemen and the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم had stopped in Al-Batha’ at the time of Hajj. He asked: ‘Have you performed Hajj?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘What did you say?’ I said: ‘ (Here I am (Allah, entering Ihram for that for which the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم entered Ii’zram).’ He said: Circumambulate the House and (perform a’I) between As Safa and Al-Marwah, and exit Ihram.’ Then I went to a woman who combed my hair. I started to issue Fatwas to the people based on that. Then during the Khilafah of ‘Umar, a man said to me: ‘Abu Musa, withhold some of your Fatwas from us, for you do not know what the Commander of the Believers has introduced into the rites after you.” Abu Musa said: “people, people, whoever heard our Fatwa, let him not rush to follow it, for the Commander of the Believers is coming to you and you should follow him.” ‘Umar said: “If we follow the Book of Allah, then indeed He commands us to complete Hajj and ‘Umrah, and the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم did not exit Ihram until the HadI had reached its place.” (Sahih)

I complained about that to the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and he said: ‘Undo your hair, and comb it, and enter Ihram for Iajj, and leave ‘Umrah.’ When I had completed Hajj, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم sent me with ‘Abdur Rahman bin Abi Bakr to At-Tan’irn, and I performed ‘Umrah. He said: ‘This is the place of your ‘Umrah.’ Then those who had entered Ihram for ‘Umrah circumambulated the House and (performed Sa’i) between As-Safa and Al-Marwah. Then they exited Ihrarn, tlhen they performed Tawaf again, after they came back from Mina for their Hajj. As for those who combined Hajj and ‘Umrah, they only performed one Tawaf.” (Sahih)

Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said to him: ‘Are you interceding with me concerning one of the Hadd punishments decreed by Allah?’ Usamah said: ‘Pray for forgiveness for me, Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم!’ Then the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم stood up that evening, he praised and glorified Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, as He deserves, then he said: ‘The people who came before you were destroyed because, whenever a noble person among them stole, they let him go. But if a low-class person stole, they would carry out the punishment on him. By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, if Fatimah bint Muhammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand.’ Then he cut off the hand of that woman.” (Sahih)
