حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كَامِلٍ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ بَهْدَلَةَ عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ زَمِيلَهُ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ عَلِيٌّ وَأَبُو لُبَابَةَ فَإِذَا حَانَتْ عُقْبَةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَا ارْكَبْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ حَتَّى نَمْشِيَ عَنْكَ فَيَقُولُ مَا أَنْتُمَا بِأَقْوَى مِنِّي وَلَا أَنَا بِأَغْنَى عَنْ الْأَجْرِ مِنْكُمَا
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 4029
It was narrated from Ibn Mas'ood that the ones who rode with the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) on the day of Badr were 'Ali and Abu Lubabah. When it was the Prophet's turn to walk, they said to him: Ride, O Messenger of Allah, and we will walk instead of you. He said: "You are not stronger than me and I am not in less need of reward than you."
