مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 3438
It was narrated that 'Ata' bin as-Sa'ib said: We were invited to a meal and Sa'eed bin Jubair and Miqsam the freed slave of lbn 'Abbas (RA) were among us. When the food was served, Sa'eed said: Have you all heard that was said concerning food? Miqsam said: O Abu 'Abdullah, tell those who have not heard. He said: lbn 'Abbas said: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "When food is served, do not eat from the middle, for the blessing ( barakah ) descends in the middle of it; eat from the edges (or the sides).”
