حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ حَدَّثَنَا أَيُّوبُ عَنْ نَافِعٍ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ كَانَ يَغْدُو إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ فَيُصَلِّي رَكَعَاتٍ يُطِيلُ فِيهِنَّ الْقِيَامَ فَإِذَا انْصَرَفَ الْإِمَامُ رَجَعَ إِلَى بَيْتِهِ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَقَالَ هَكَذَا كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5807
It was narrated from Naafi' that Ibn 'Umar used to go early to the mosque on Fridays and pfay rak'ahs in which he stood for a long time. Then when the imam finished, he would go back to his house and pray two rak'ahs. And he said: This is what the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) used to do.
