حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ سَمِعْتُ نَافِعًا يَزْعُمُ أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ سَاوَمَتْ بِبَرِيرَةَ فَخَرَجَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ فَلَمَّا رَجَعَ قَالَتْ إِنَّهُمْ أَبَوْا أَنْ يَبِيعُونِي إِلَّا أَنْ يَشْتَرِطُوا الْوَلَاءَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا الْوَلَاءُ لِمَنْ أَعْتَقَ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5761
Hummaam narrated: I heard Naafi' say that Ibn 'Umar told him that 'Aa'ishah wanted to buy Bareerah in order to manumit her. The Prophet (PBUH) went out to pray and when lie came back, she said: They refused to sell her to me unless they could stipulate that walci (the right to inherit from a freed slave) belonged to them. The Prophet (PBUH) said: "Wtila' (the right to inherit from a freed slave) belongs to the one who manumits the slave."
