حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ أَتَى ابْنَ مُطِيعٍ لَيَالِي الْحَرَّةِ فَقَالَ ضَعُوا لِأَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ وِسَادَةً فَقَالَ إِنِّي لَمْ آتِ لِأَجْلِسَ إِنَّمَا جِئْتُ لِأُخْبِرَكَ كَلِمَتَيْنِ سَمِعْتُهُمَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ نَزَعَ يَدًا مِنْ طَاعَةٍ لَمْ تَكُنْ لَهُ حُجَّةٌ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ وَمَنْ مَاتَ مُفَارِقًا لِلْجَمَاعَةِ فَإِنَّهُ يَمُوتُ مَوْتَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5718
It was narrated from Zayd ibn Aslam that he narrated that Abdullah ibn 'Umar came to Ibn al-Mutee' during the battle of al-Harrah. He said: Put a cushion for Abu 'Abd ar-Rahmaan. He said: I have not come to sit; rather I have come to tell you two things I heard from the Messenger of Allah (PBUH). I heard the Messenger ot Allah (PBUH) say: "Whoever withdraws his pledge of obedience (to a Muslim ruler, and rebels against him) will have no excuse on the Day of Resurrection, and whoever dies having separated from the main body of the Muslims has died a death of jaahiliyyah."
