حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ أَرَاكَ تُزَاحِمُ عَلَى هَذَيْنِ الرُّكْنَيْنِ قَالَ إِنْ أَفْعَلْ فَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ مَسْحَهُمَا يَحُطَّانِ الْخَطَايَا قَالَ وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ مَنْ طَافَ بِهَذَا الْبَيْتِ أُسْبُوعًا يُحْصِيهِ كُتِبَ لَهُ بِكُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ حَسَنَةٌ وَكُفِّرَ عَنْهُ سَيِّئَةٌ وَرُفِعَتْ لَهُ دَرَجَةٌ وَكَانَ عَدْلَ عِتْقِ رَقَبَةٍ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5701
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn 'Ubayd ibn 'Umayr that his father said: I said to Ibn 'Umar: Why do I see you joining the crowds to reach these two corners (of the Ka'bah)? He said: The reason I do that is because I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) say: "Touching them erases sins." He said: And I heard him say: "Whoever circumambulates this House seven times, counting it properly, for every step he takes, one hasanah will be written for him, one sayyi'ah will be expiated for him, and he will be raised one degree in status thereby, and it will be equivalent to manumitting a slave.
