مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5682
Ishaaq ibn Sa'eed narrated that his father said: Ibn 'Umar entered upon Yahya ibn Sa eed, and (saw that) one of his sons had tied up a chicken bo shoot at it. He (Ibn 'Umar) walked over to the chicken and untied it, then he brought it and the boy to Yahya and said: Prevent this boy of yours from tying this bird up to kill it, for I heard the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbid tying up animals or any other creatures for the purpose of killing them. If you want to slaughter it, then slaughter it.
