حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَلِکِ مُحَمَّدٌ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ الْعَامِلِيُّ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِکٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِأَکْثَمَ بْنِ الْجَوْنِ الْخُزَاعِيِّ يَا أَکْثَمُ اغْزُ مَعَ غَيْرِ قَوْمِکَ يَحْسُنْ خُلُقُکَ وَتَکْرُمْ عَلَی رُفَقَائِکَ يَا أَکْثَمُ خَيْرُ الرُّفَقَائِ أَرْبَعَةٌ وَخَيْرُ السَّرَايَا أَرْبَعُ مِائَةٍ وَخَيْرُ الْجُيُوشِ أَرْبَعَةُ آلَافٍ وَلَنْ يُغْلَبَ اثْنَا عَشَرَ أَلْفًا مِنْ قِلَّةٍ

It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said to Aktham bin Al-Jawn Al-Khuza' i: "0 Aktham! Ight alongside people other than youurown, it will improve your attitude and make you generous : your companions. a Aktham, e best number of companions is four, the best number of troops on an expedition is four hundred, the best number of an army is four thousand, and twelve thousand will never be overpowered because of their small number." (Da'if)

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَقَ عَنْ الْبَرَائِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ کُنَّا نَتَحَدَّثُ أَنَّ أَصْحَابَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ کَانُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ثَلَاثَ مِائَةٍ وَبِضْعَةَ عَشَرَ عَلَی عِدَّةِ أَصْحَابِ طَالُوتَ مَنْ جَازَ مَعَهُ النَّهَرَ وَمَا جَازَ مَعَهُ إِلَّا مُؤْمِنٌ

It was narrated that Bara' bin 'Azib said: "We were talking about how, on the Day of Badr, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H numbered three hundred ten and something, the same number as the Companions of (Talut) who crossed the river with him, and no one crossed the river with him but a believer." (Sahih)

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا زَيْدُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ عَنْ ابْنِ لَهِيعَةَ أَخْبَرَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ لَهِيعَةَ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا الْوَرْدِ صَاحِبَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ إِيَّاکُمْ وَالسَّرِيَّةَ الَّتِي إِنْ لَقِيَتْ فَرَّتْ وَإِنْ غَنِمَتْ غَلَّتْ

It was narrated that Lahi’ah bin ‘Uqbah said: “I heard Abul-Ward, the Companion of the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H say:‘Beware of the troop which, when it meets (the enemy) it flees, and when it takes spoils of war, it steals from it.’” (Da‘if)
