Musnad Imam Ahmad Bin Hanble

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الْوَرْسِ وَالزَّعْفَرَانِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَعْنِي الْمُحْرِمَ قَالَ نَعَمْ

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar: I heard Ibn "Umar narrate that the Prophet (PBUH) forbade wars (memecylon tinctorium, a plant dye) and saffron. Shu'bah said: I said to him: Do you mean for the muhrim (pilgrim in ihram)? He said: Yes.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ خَمْسٌ لَيْسَ عَلَى حَرَامٍ جُنَاحٌ فِي قَتْلِهِنَّ الْكَلْبُ الْعَقُورُ وَالْغُرَابُ وَالْحُدَيَّا وَالْفَأْرَةُ وَالْحَيَّةُ

It was narrated from "Abdullah ibn Dinar: I heard Ibn "Umar narrate that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "There are five creatures for which there is no sin on the muhrim if he kills them: vicious dogs, crows, kites, rats and snakes."

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ مَفَاتِيحُ الْغَيْبِ خَمْسٌ لَا يَعْلَمُهُنَّ إِلَّا اللَّهُ لَا يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي غَدٍ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَلَا يَعْلَمُ نُزُولَ الْغَيْثِ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَلَا يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي الْأَرْحَامِ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَلَا يَعْلَمُ السَّاعَةَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَدًا وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ بِأَيِّ أَرْضٍ تَمُوتُ

It was narrated from Ibn 'Umar that the Prophet said: The keys of the unseen are five, and no one knows them except Allah, No one knows what will happen tomorrow except Allah; no one knows when rain will fall except Allah; no one knows what is in the wombs except Allah; no one knows (when) the Hour (will begin) except Allah; no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow; and no soul knows in what land it will die."

ابْنِ عُمَرَ ← عَبْدُ اللہِ بْنُ دِینَارٍ ← سُفْيَانَ، ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُبَاعَ الثَّمَرَةُ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهَا

It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar: I heard Ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) forbade selling crops until they become ripe.

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ هُوَ ابْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ يَقُولُ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْفُوا اللِّحَى وَحُفُّوا الشَّوَارِبَ

'Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn 'Alqamah said: I heard Ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) said: "Let the beard grow and trim the moustache."

ابْنِ عُمَرَ ← ابْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ هُوَ ابْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ، ← سُفْيَانَ، ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَطَعَ نَخْلَ بَنِي النَّضِيرِ وَحَرَّقَ

It was narrated from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) cut down the palm trees of Banu'l-Nadeer and burned them.

ابْنِ عُمَرَ ← نَافِعٍ ← مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، ← سُفْيَانَ، ← عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ،

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ وَإِسْحَاقُ يَعْنِي الْأَزْرَقَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّا أُمَّةٌ أُمِّيَّةٌ لَا نَكْتُبُ وَلَا نَحْسُبُ الشَّهْرُ هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا حَتَّى ذَكَرَ تِسْعًا وَعِشْرِينَ قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ وَطَبَّقَ يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَحَبَسَ إِبْهَامَهُ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ

It was narrated from Ifcn 'Umar that the Prophet (PBUH) said "We are an unlettered ummah, we do not write or calculate. The month is like this and like this and like this," so as to indicate twenty-nine. Ishaaq said: and he dapped his hands three times and tucked away his thumb the third time.

حَدَّثَنَا مُؤَمَّلٌ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ أَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ تُعْفَى اللِّحَى وَأَنْ تُجَزَّ الشَّوَارِبُ

It was narrated from 'Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn 'Alqamah: I heard Ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) instructed (us) to let the beard grow and trim the moustache.

It was narrated from 'Abd ar-Rahmaan ibn 'Alqamah: I heard Ibn 'Umar say: The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) instructed (us) to let the beard grow and trim the moustache.

عبد الرحمن بن علقمة ← سُفْيَانَ، ← عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ سَالِمَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ قَالَ عُمَرُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَرَأَيْتَ مَا نَعْمَلُ فِيهِ أَفِي أَمْرٍ قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ أَوْ مُبْتَدَإٍ أَوْ مُبْتَدَعٍ قَالَ فِيمَا قَدْ فُرِغَ مِنْهُ فَاعْمَلْ يَا ابْنَ الْخَطَّابِ فَإِنَّ كُلًّا مُيَسَّرٌ أَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ السَّعَادَةِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْمَلُ لِلسَّعَادَةِ وَأَمَّا مَنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّقَاءِ فَإِنَّهُ يَعْمَلُ لِلشَّقَاءِ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: 'Umar said: O Messenger of Allah, what do you think we are striving for - is it for something that has already been decreed or something that has yet to be decided? He said: "For something that has already been decreed- So strive, O son of al-Khattaab, for each one will be helped (in the path that has been decreed for him). The one who is destined to be among the blessed will do the deeds of the blessed, and the one who is destined to be among the doomed will do the deeds of the doomed.”

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ فَقُلْتُ أَلَا تُحَدِّثِينِي عَنْ مَرَضِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَتْ بَلَى ثَقُلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّى النَّاسُ فَقُلْنَا لَا هُمْ يَنْتَظِرُونَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ضَعُوا لِي مَاءً فِي الْمِخْضَبِ فَفَعَلْنَا فَاغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ لِيَنُوءَ فَأُغْمِيَ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ أَفَاقَ فَقَالَ أَصَلَّى النَّاسُ قُلْنَا لَا هُمْ يَنْتَظِرُونَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ ضَعُوا لِي مَاءً فِي الْمِخْضَبِ فَذَهَبَ لِيَنُوءَ فَغُشِيَ عَلَيْهِ قَالَتْ وَالنَّاسُ عُكُوفٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَنْتَظِرُونَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِصَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ فَأَرْسَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى أَبِي بَكْرٍ بِأَنْ يُصَلِّيَ بِالنَّاسِ وَكَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ رَجُلًا رَقِيقًا فَقَالَ يَا عُمَرُ صَلِّ بِالنَّاسِ فَقَالَ أَنْتَ أَحَقُّ بِذَلِكَ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ تِلْكَ الْأَيَّامَ ثُمَّ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَجَدَ خِفَّةً فَخَرَجَ بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ أَحَدُهُمَا الْعَبَّاسُ لِصَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ فَلَمَّا رَآهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ذَهَبَ لِيَتَأَخَّرَ فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْهِ أَنْ لَا يَتَأَخَّرَ وَأَمَرَهُمَا فَأَجْلَسَاهُ إِلَى جَنْبِهِ فَجَعَلَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يُصَلِّي قَائِمًا وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي قَاعِدًا فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَقُلْتُ أَلَا أَعْرِضُ عَلَيْكَ مَا حَدَّثَتْنِي عَائِشَةُ عَنْ مَرَضِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ هَاتِ فَحَدَّثْتُهُ فَمَا أَنْكَرَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ هَلْ سَمَّتْ لَكَ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي كَانَ مَعَ الْعَبَّاسِ قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ هُوَ عَلِيٌّ رَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ

It was narrated that 'Ubayd-Allah ibn 'Abdillah said: I entered upon 'Aa'ishah and said to her: will you not tell me about the illness of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)? She said: Yes. The Prophet (PBUH) became very ill and said: "Did the people pray?" We said: No, they are waiting for you, 0 Messenger of Allah. He said: "Put some water in the tub for me." We did that, and he did ghusl, then he tried to get up, but he fainted. Then he came round and said: "Did the people pray?" We said: No, they are waiting for you, O Messenger of Allah. He said: "Put some water in the tub for me." We did that, and he did ghusl, then he tried to get up, but he fainted. Then he came round and said: "Did the people pray?" We said: No, they are waiting for O Messenger of Allah. He said Put some water in the tub for me."Then he tried to get up. but he fainted. The people were gathered in the mosque, waiting for the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) to pray 'Isha'. The Messenger of Allah (PBUH) sent word to Abu Bakr, telling him to lead the people in prayer. But Abu Bakr was a tender-hearted man, so he said: O 'Umar, lead the people in prayer. 'Umar said: You are more entitled to do that. So Abu Bakr led them in prayer during those days. Then the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) felt a little better, so he came out between two men - one of whom was al- Abbaas - to pray Zuhr. When Abu Bakr saw him, he start ed to step back, but the Prophet (PBUH) gestured to him not to step back. He told (the two men) to seat him beside (Abu Bakr). Abu Bakr prayed standing and the Messenger of Allah (PBUH) prayed sitting. I entered upon Ibn 'Abbaas and said to him: Shall I not tell you what 'Aa'ishah told me about the illness of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH)? He said: Go ahead. So I told him what she had said, and he did not object to any part of it, except that he said: Did she tell you the name of the one who was with al-'Abbaas? I said: No. He said: That was 'Ali (may Allah have mercy on him).

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى بْنَ وَثَّابٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ مَنْ أَتَى الْجُمُعَةَ فَلْيَغْتَسِلْ

It was narrated that Ibn 'Umar said: I heard the Prophet (PBUH) say:"If one of you (wants to) come to Jumu'ah, let him do ghusl."
