حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ الْوَرْسِ وَالزَّعْفَرَانِ قَالَ شُعْبَةُ قُلْتُ لَهُ يَعْنِي الْمُحْرِمَ قَالَ نَعَمْ
مسند امام احمد بن حنبل · Hadith 5131
It was narrated from 'Abdullah ibn Dinar: I heard Ibn "Umar narrate that the Prophet (PBUH) forbade wars (memecylon tinctorium, a plant dye) and saffron. Shu'bah said: I said to him: Do you mean for the muhrim (pilgrim in ihram)? He said: Yes.
