Mughira b. Shu'ba reported: No one asked Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) more about Dajjil than I asked him. He said: He should not be a source of worry to you for he would not be able to do any harm to you. I said: Allah's Messenger, it is alleged that he would have along with him (abundance of) food and water. Thereupon he said: He would be very insignificant in the eye of Allah (even) with all this.

Ubadah b. Walid b. Samit reported: I and my father set out in search of knowledge to a tribe of the Ansar before their death (i. e. before the Companions of the Prophet left the world) and I was the first to meet Abu Yasar, a Companion of Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) and there was a young man with him who carried the record of letters with him and there was a mantle prepared by the tribe of Ma'afiri upon him. And his servant too had a Ma'afiri mantle over him. My father said to him: My uncle, I see the signs of anger or that of agony on your face. He said: Yes, such and such person, the son of so and so, of the tribe of Harami owed me a debt. I went to his family, extended salutations and said: Where is he? They said: He is not here. Then came out to me his son who was at the threshold of his youth. I said to him: Where is your father? He said: No sooner did he hear your sound than he hid himself behind my mother's bedstead. I said to him: Walk out to me, for I know where you are. He came out. I said to him: What prompted you to hide yourself from me? He said: By God, whatever I would say to you would not be a lie. By Allah, I fear that I should tell a lie to you and in case of making promise with you I should break it, as you are the Companion of Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ). The fact is that I was hard up in regard to money. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. I said: Do you adjure by Allah? He said: I adjure by Allah. Then he brought his promissory note and he wrote off (the debt) with his hand and said: Make payment when you find yourself solvent enough to pay me back; if you are not, then there is no liability upon you. These two eyes of mine saw, and he (Abu'I-Yasar) placed his fingers upon his eyes and these two ears of mine heard and my heart retained, and he pointed towards his heart that Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: He who gives time to one who is financially hard up (in the payment of debt) or writes off his debt, Allah will provide him His shadow

Ibn Buraida reported that Abdullah b. al-Mughaffal saw a person from amongst his companions throwing small pebbles, whereupon he said: Don't throw pebbles. for Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) did not like it, or he forbade flinging of pebbles since neither the game is taken thereby, nor an enemy defeated. but it may break a tooth or put out an eye. He, afterwards, again saw him flinging pebbles, and said to him: I inform you that the Messenger of Allah ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) did not approve or he forbade flinging of pebbles, but if I see you again flinging pebbles. I will not speak with you.

Thereupon he said: Apostle of Allah, it is the day of meat and it is not desirable (to have longing for it and not to make use of it immediately), so I hastened in offering my animal as a sacrifice, so that I might feed my family and neighbours and my kith and kin. Thereupon Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) said: Offer again your sacrifice. He said: Messenger of Allah, I have a small milch goat of less than one year, and that is better than two dry goats (from which only) meat (can be acquired). Thereupon he said: That is better than the two animals of sacrifice on your behalf, and the sacrifice of a goat, of less than six months shall not be accepted as a sacrifice on behalf of anyone after your (sacrifice).

Anas (b. Malik) reported Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) having said on the day of Nahr (Sacrifice): He who slaughtered (the animal as a sacrifice) before the ('Id) prayer. should repeat it (i. e. offer another animal). Thereupon a person stood up and said: Messenger of Allah, that is the day when meat is much desired, and he also made a mention of the need of his neighbour, and perhaps Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) attested it. He (the person who had sacrificed the animal before the 'Id prayer) said: I have a goat of less than one year of age with me and I like it more than two fleshy goats; should I offer it as a sacrifice? He permitted him to do so. He (the narrator) said: I do not know whether this permission was granted to anyone else besides him or not. Allah's Messenger ( ‌صلی ‌اللہ ‌علیہ ‌وسلم ‌ ) then turned towards two rams. and he slaughtered them, and the people' came to the goats and got them distributed amongst themselves (for offering them as sacrifice).

It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: “I went out to At-Tur and met Ka’b. He and I spent a day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On this day Adam was created, on this day he was sent down, on it his repentance was accepted, on this day he died, and on this day the Hour will begin. There is no living creature on Earth that does not listen out from Friday morning until the sun rises, fearing the onset of the Hour, except the son of Adam. On (Friday) there is an hour in which, if a believer prays and asks Allah for something, He will give it to him. Ka’b said: Is that one day in every year? I said: No, it is every Friday.’ Then Ka’b read in the Tawrah and said: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم spoke the truth; it is every Friday. Then I went out and met Basrah bin Abi Basrah Al-GhifarI. He said: From where have you come? I said: From At-Tur. He said: If I had met you before you went there, you would not have gone. I said to him: Why? He said: I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم say: Do not travel especially to visit any Masjid except three: Al-Masjid Al Haram (in Makkah), my Masjid (in Al-Madinah) and the Masjid of Bait Al-Maqdis (in Jerusalem). Then I met ‘Abdullah bin Salam and said: ‘If only you had seen me, I went to At-Tur and met Ka’b, and he and I spent a day together, when I narrated things to him from the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and he narrated things to me from the Tawrah. I said to him: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: The best day on which the sun rises is Friday. On (Friday) there is a hour in which, if a believer prays and asks Allah for something, He will give it to him. Ka’b said: That is one day in every year. ‘Abdullah bin Salam said: Ka’b is not telling the truth. I said: Then Ka’b read (in the Tawrah) and said: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم spoke the truth, it is every Friday. ‘Abdullah said: Ka’b spoke the truth; I know when that time is. I said: my brother, tell me about it. He said: It is the last hour of Friday, before the sun sets. I said: Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم say: If a believer prays, but that is not a time for prayer. He said: Did you not hear the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم say: Whoever prays and sits waiting for the (next) prayer, is in a state of prayer until the next prayer comes? I said: Of course. He said: That is what it is.” (Sahih)

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “The wives of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم got together and sent Fatimah to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلمThey told her to say: ‘Your wives” – and he (the narrator) said something to the effect that they are urging you to be equitable with regard to the matter of the daughter of Abu Quhafah. She said: “So she entered upon the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم when he was with ‘Aishah under her cover. She said to him: ‘Your wives have sent me and they are urging you to be equitable with regard to the matter of the daughter of Abu Quhafah.’ The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said to her: ‘Do you love me?’ She said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Then love her.’ So she went back to them and told them what he said. They said to her: ‘You did not do anything; go back to him.’ She said: ‘By Allah, I will never go back (and speak to him) about her again.’ She was truly the daughter of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلمSo they sent Zainab bint Jabsh.” ‘Aishah said: “She was somewhat my equal among the wives of the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلمShe said: ‘Your wives have sent me to urge you to be equitable with regard to the matter of the daughter of Abu Qubafah.’ Then she swooped on me and Abused me, and I started watching the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم to see if he would give me permission to respond to her. She insulted me and I started to think that he would not disapprove if I responded to her. So I insulted her and I soon silenced her. Then the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم. said to her: ‘She is the daughter of Abu Bakr.” ‘Aishah said: “And I never saw any woman who was better, more generous in giving charity, more keen to uphold the ties of kinship, and more generous in giving of herself in everything by means of which she could draw closer to Allah than Zainab. But she had a quick temper; however, she was also quick to calm down.” (Sahih) Abu ‘Abdur-Rahman (An-Nasa’i) said: This is a mistake, and what is correct is the one which is before

It was narrated that ‘Aishah said: “Barirah made a contract that she would be freed in return for nine Awaq, one Uqi to be paid each year.” She came to Aishah asking for help and she said: “No, not unless they agree to accept the sum in one payment, and that the Wala’ will go to me.” BarIrah went and spoke to her masters but they insisted that the Wala’ should be for them. She came to ‘Aishah and the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم came, and she told her what her masters had said. She said: “No, by Allah, not unless Wala’ is to me.” The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “What is this?” She said: “Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, BarIrah came to me and asked me to help her with her contract of manumission, and I said no, not unless they agree to accept the sum in one payment, and that the Wala’ will be for me. She mentioned that to her masters and they insisted that the Wala’ should be for them.” The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Buy her, and stipulate that the Wala’ is for the one who sets the slave free.” Then he stood up and addressed the people and said: “What is the matter with people who stipulate conditions that are not in the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime? They say: ‘I set so-and-so free but the Wala’ will be to me.’ Every condition that is not in the Book of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, is a false condition, even if there are a hundred conditions.” And the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم gave her the choice with regard to her husband who was still a slave, and she chose herself. ‘Urwah said: “If he had been free the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم would not have given her the choice.” (Sahih)

It was narrated that Anas bin Malik said: “The first Li’an in Islam was when Hilal bin Umayyah accused Sharik bin As-Sahma’ (of committing adultery) with his wife. He came to the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم , and told him about that. The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘(Bring) four witnesses, otherwise (you will feel) the Hadd punishment on your back.’ And he repeated that several times. Hilal said to him: ‘By Allah, o Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم! Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, knows that I am telling the truth, and Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, will certainly reveal to you that which will spare my back from the whip.’ While they were like that, the Verse of Li’an was revealed to him: As to those who accuse their wives.’ He called Hilal and he bore witness four times by Allah that lie was telling the truth, and the fifth time he invoked the curse of Allah upon him if he were lying. Then he called the woman and she bore witness four times by Allah that he was lying. When it came to the fourth or fifth time, the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Stop her, for it will inevitably bring the punishment of Allah upon the liar.’ She hesitated until we thought that she was going to confess, then she said: ‘I will not dishonor my people today.’ Then she went ahead with the oath. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Wait and see. If she produces a child who is white, with straight hair and Qa eyes, then he belongs to Hilal bin Umayyah, but if she produces a child who is dark with curly hair, of average size and with narrow calves, then he belongs to Sharik bin As-Sahma’.’ She produced a child who was dark with curly hair, of average size and with narrow calves. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: ‘Had not the matter been settled by the Book of Allah, I would have punished her severely.” (Sahih) The Shaikh said: Qadiy’a eye: Long eye lashes, not the opening of the eye or their protrusion. And Allah, Glorious is He and Most High, knows best. (Sahih)

It was narrated that Rafi’ bin Khadij said: “We used to lease land on the basis of Al-Mui during the time of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم.” He said that one of his paternal uncles came to them and said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم has forbidden me to do something that was beneficial for us, but obedience to Allah and His Messenger is more beneficial.” We said: “What is that?” He said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “Whoever has land, let him cultivate it (himself) or give it to his brother to cultivate, and not lease it in return for one-third or one- quarter of the yield nor a specified amount of food (produce).” (Sahih) Uan bin Qais reported it from Rafi’; and there is a difference over Rabi’ah’s narration of it.
