حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَی بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَکِ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ مِنْ وَلَدِ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ صُهَيْبٍ قَالَ قَدِمْتُ عَلَی النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَبَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ خُبْزٌ وَتَمْرٌ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ادْنُ فَکُلْ فَأَخَذْتُ آکُلُ مِنْ التَّمْرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَأْکُلُ تَمْرًا وَبِکَ رَمَدٌ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ إِنِّي أَمْضُغُ مِنْ نَاحِيَةٍ أُخْرَی فَتَبَسَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
ابن ماجہ · Hadith 3443
It was narrated that Suhaib said: "I came to the Prophet and in front of him there were some bread and dates. The Prophet P.B.U.H said: 'Come and eat.' So i started to eat some of the dates. Then the Prophet said: 'Are you eating dates when you have an inflammation in your eye?' i said: 'I am chewing from the other side.' And the Messenger of Allah smiled." (Hasan)
