حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو کُرَيْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ عَنْ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَا کَانَ مِنْ صَدَاقٍ أَوْ حِبَائٍ أَوْ هِبَةٍ قَبْلَ عِصْمَةِ النِّکَاحِ فَهُوَ لَهَا وَمَا کَانَ بَعْدَ عِصْمَةِ النِّکَاحِ فَهُوَ لِمَنْ أُعْطِيَهُ أَوْ حُبِيَ وَأَحَقُّ مَا يُکْرَمُ الرَّجُلُ بِهِ ابْنَتُهُ أَوْ أُخْتُهُ
ابن ماجہ · Hadith 1955
It was narrated from ‘Amir bin Shu’aib, from his father, that his grandfather said: “The Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H , said: ‘Whatever is given as a dowry or gift before the marriage, it belongs to her. Whatever is given after the marriage belongs to the one to whom it was given. And the most deserving matter for which a man is honored is (the marriage of) his daughter or sister.’” (Hasan)
