ابن ماجہ · Hadith 1818
It was narrated that Mu'adh bin Jabal said: "The Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H sent me to Yemen and commanded me to take one-tenth of that which was irrigated from the sky and that which was irrigated by deep roots, and to take one half of onetenth of that which was irrigated by means of buckets." (Da'if)Yahya bin Adam said: The Ba' and 'Alhari and 'Adhyu are (crops) irrigated by rain. 'Athari is the crop irrigated by the clouds and rain especially. It is only watered by rain. Ba'l is the garden (grapevine) whose roots have gone down in to the earth to the water. Hence it does not need irrigation, even if it is not wateredfor five or six years. This is Ba'l. Sail is the water of the valley when it flows (freely) and Ghail is a lesser Sail.
