حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْأَشَجُّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ سِمَاکِ بْنِ حَرْبٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ بَعَثَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَی نَجْرَانَ فَقَالُوا لِي أَلَسْتُمْ تَقْرَئُونَ يَا أُخْتَ هَارُونَ وَقَدْ کَانَ بَيْنَ عِيسَی وَمُوسَی مَا کَانَ فَلَمْ أَدْرِ مَا أُجِيبُهُمْ فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ فَقَالَ أَلَا أَخْبَرْتَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ کَانُوا يُسَمُّونَ بِأَنْبِيَائِهِمْ وَالصَّالِحِينَ قَبْلَهُمْ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَی هَذَا حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ غَرِيبٌ لَا نَعْرِفُهُ إِلَّا مِنْ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ إِدْرِيسَ
جامع ترمذی · Hadith 3155
Narrated Al-Mughirah bin Shu'bah: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent me to Najran. They said to me: 'Do you people not recite: O sister of Harun (19:28) - while between Musa and 'Eisa there is such (gap) as there is?' I did not know how to respond to them. So when I returned to the Prophet (ﷺ), I told him about that, and he said: 'Why didn't you tell them that they were named after their Prophets and righteous people before them.'
