حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ يَحْيَی عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ نَهَی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ صِيَامَيْنِ يَوْمِ الْأَضْحَی وَيَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ قَالَ وَفِي الْبَاب عَنْ عُمَرَ وَعَلِيٍّ وَعَائِشَةَ وَأَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ وَعُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ وَأَنَسٍ قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَی حَدِيثُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ وَالْعَمَلُ عَلَيْهِ عِنْدَ أَهْلِ الْعِلْمِ قَالَ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَی هُوَ ابْنُ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْمَازِنِيُّ الْمَدَنِيُّ وَهُوَ ثِقَةٌ رَوَی لَهُ سُفْيَانُ الثَّوْرِيُّ وَشُعْبَةُ وَمَالِکُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ
جامع ترمذی · Hadith 771
Abu Ubaid, the freed slave of Abdur-Rahman bin Awf narrated: I witnessed Umar bin Al-Khattab on the Day of Nahr beginning with the Salat before the Khutbah. Then he said: 'I heard the Messenger of Allah prohibit fasting on these two days. As for the Day of Fitr, then it is for you to take a break from your fasting, and a celebration for the Muslims. As for the Day of Adha, then eat from the flesh that you have sacrificed.'
