حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ أَنْبَأَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ حَدَّثَنَا غَيْلَانُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَعْبَدٍ الزِّمَّانِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صِيَامُ يَوْمِ عَاشُورَائَ إِنِّي أَحْتَسِبُ عَلَی اللَّهِ أَنْ يُکَفِّرَ السَّنَةَ الَّتِي قَبْلَهُ
ابن ماجہ · Hadith 1738
It was narrated from Abu Qatadah that the Messenger of Allah P.B.U.H said: "Fasting the day of 'Ashura', I hope, will expiate for the sins of the previous year." (Sahih)
