حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ أَتَی النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجُلٌ فَقَالَ هَلَکْتُ قَالَ وَمَا أَهْلَکَکَ قَالَ وَقَعْتُ عَلَی امْرَأَتِي فِي رَمَضَانَ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَعْتِقْ رَقَبَةً قَالَ لَا أَجِدُ قَالَ صُمْ شَهْرَيْنِ مُتَتَابِعَيْنِ قَالَ لَا أُطِيقُ قَالَ أَطْعِمْ سِتِّينَ مِسْکِينًا قَالَ لَا أَجِدُ قَالَ اجْلِسْ فَجَلَسَ فَبَيْنَمَا هُوَ کَذَلِکَ إِذْ أُتِيَ بِمِکْتَلٍ يُدْعَی الْعَرَقَ فَقَالَ اذْهَبْ فَتَصَدَّقْ بِهِ قَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَکَ بِالْحَقِّ مَا بَيْنَ لَابَتَيْهَا أَهْلُ بَيْتٍ أَحْوَجُ إِلَيْهِ مِنَّا قَالَ فَانْطَلِقْ فَأَطْعِمْهُ عِيَالَکَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَی حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِذَلِکَ فَقَالَ وَصُمْ يَوْمًا مَکَانَهُ
ابن ماجہ · Hadith 1671
It was narrated that Abu Hurairah said: A man came to the Prophet P.B.U.H and said: 'I am doomed.' He said: 'Why are you doomed?' He said: 'I had intercourse with my wife in Ramadan.' The Prophet P.B.U.H said: 'Free a slave.' He said:I cannot.' He said: 'Fast for two consecutive months.' He said: 'I cannot.' He said: 'Feed sixty poor persons.' He said: 'I cannot.' He said: 'Sit down.' So he sat down, and while doing so a basketful of da tes was brought. The Prophet P.B.U.H said: 'Go and give this in charity.' He said: ,0 Messenger of Allah, by the One Who sent you with the truth, there is no household between its two lava fields (i.e., in AI-Madinah) that is more in need of it than us.' He said: 'Then go and feed your family.''' (Sahih) Another chain from Abu Hurairah with the additional words: "Then he (the Prophet P.B.U.H) said: And fast a day in its place."
