حَدَّثَنَا أَبْنُ أَبِي خَلَفٍ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ ابْنُ السَّرْحِ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ إِيَاسِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي ذُبَابٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَضْرِبُوا إِمَائَ اللَّهِ فَجَائَ عُمَرُ إِلَی رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ ذَئِرْنَ النِّسَائُ عَلَی أَزْوَاجِهِنَّ فَرَخَّصَ فِي ضَرْبِهِنَّ فَأَطَافَ بِآلِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نِسَائٌ کَثِيرٌ يَشْکُونَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَقَدْ طَافَ بِآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ نِسَائٌ کَثِيرٌ يَشْکُونَ أَزْوَاجَهُنَّ لَيْسَ أُولَئِکَ بِخِيَارِکُمْ
سنن ابودوٗد · Hadith 2146
Iyas ibn Abdullah ibn Abu Dhubab reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying: Do not beat Allah's handmaidens, but when Umar came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them. Then many women came round the family of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ complaining against their husbands. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Many women have gone round Muhammad's family complaining against their husbands. They are not the best among you.
