حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ يَعْنِي الْإِسْکَنْدَرَانِيَّ الْقَارِيَّ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ الْمُطَّلِبِ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ صَيْدُ الْبَرِّ لَکُمْ حَلَالٌ مَا لَمْ تَصِيدُوهُ أَوْ يُصَدْ لَکُمْ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد إِذَا تَنَازَعَ الْخَبَرَانِ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُنْظَرُ بِمَا أَخَذَ بِهِ أَصْحَابُهُ
سنن ابودوٗد · Hadith 1851
Narrated Jabir ibn Abdullah: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: The game of the land is lawful for you (when you are wearing ihram) as long as you do not hunt it or have it hunted on your behalf. Abu Dawud said: When two traditions from the Prophet ﷺ conflict, one should see which of them was followed by his Companions.
