أَخْبَرَنَا إِسْحَقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ أَنَّهُ رَأَی حُلَّةَ سِيَرَائَ تُبَاعُ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْمَسْجِدِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَوْ اشْتَرَيْتَ هَذَا لِيَوْمِ الْجُمُعَةِ وَلِلْوَفْدِ إِذَا قَدِمُوا عَلَيْکَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِنَّمَا يَلْبَسُ هَذِهِ مَنْ لَا خَلَاقَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ قَالَ فَأُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعْدُ مِنْهَا بِحُلَلٍ فَکَسَانِي مِنْهَا حُلَّةً فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ کَسَوْتَنِيهَا وَقَدْ قُلْتَ فِيهَا مَا قُلْتَ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَمْ أَکْسُکَهَا لِتَلْبَسَهَا إِنَّمَا کَسَوْتُکَهَا لِتَکْسُوَهَا أَوْ لِتَبِيعَهَا فَکَسَاهَا عُمَرُ أَخًا لَهُ مِنْ أُمِّهِ مُشْرِکًا
سنن نسائی · Hadith 5310
It was narrated from ‘Umar bin Al-Khattab that he saw a Hullah of Sira’ silk being offered for sale at the door of the Masjid. I said ''O' Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, why don’t you buy this and wear it on Fridays, and (when meeting) the delegations when they come to you?” The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “This is only worn by one who has no share in the Hereafter.” After that some (other) Hullahs were brought to the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and he gave me one. He said: “Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, you gave me this when you said what you said about it!” The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “I did not give it to you to wear it! Rather I gave it to you to give away or to sell.” So ‘Umar gave it to a brother of his on his mother’s side who was an idolater.(Sahih)
