أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَهُوَ عَلَی الْمِنْبَرِ بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَأَخْرَجَ مِنْ کُمِّهِ قُصَّةً مِنْ شَعْرٍ فَقَالَ يَا أَهْلَ الْمَدِينَةِ أَيْنَ عُلَمَاؤُکُمْ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْهَی عَنْ مِثْلِ هَذِهِ وَقَالَ إِنَّمَا هَلَکَتْ بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ حِينَ اتَّخَذَ نِسَاؤُهُمْ مِثْلَ هَذَا
سنن نسائی · Hadith 5260
It was narrated that Humaid bin ‘Abdur-Rahman said: “I heard Muawiyah say, when he was on the Minbar in Al-Madinah, and he brought out a hairpiece from his sleeve: ‘people of Al-Madinah, where are your knowledgeable ones? I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم forbid such things as this, and he said: “The Children of Israel were destroyed when their women started to wear things like this.” (Sahih)
