أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شَيْخٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ حِمَّانَ أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْکَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَنْشُدُکُمْ بِاللَّهِ هَلْ نَهَی رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ لُبُوسِ الذَّهَبِ قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ خَالَفَهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ عَلَی اخْتِلَافِ أَصْحَابِهِ عَلَيْهِ فِيهِ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 5169
Abu Shaikh narrated from his brother Himman, that when Muawiyah went on Hajj, he gathered together a group of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم at the Ka’bah and said them: “I adjure you by Allah, did the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم forbid Wearing gold?” They said: “Yes.” He said: “And I bear witness to that.” (Sahih) Al-Awza’i contradicted him, as did his companions from him about it.
