أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ عَنْ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَعِنْدَهُ جَمْعٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ أَتَعْلَمُونَ أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَی عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ إِلَّا مُقَطَّعًا قَالُوا اللَّهُمَّ نَعَمْ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 5166
It was narrated from Abu Shaikh that he heard Muawiyah say, when a group of the Companions of Muhammad were with him: “Do you know that the Prophet of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم forbade wearing gold unless it was broken (into smaller pieces)?” They said: “By Allah, yes.” (Sahih)
