حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَعِيلُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سُهَيْلٍ نَافِعُ بْنُ مَالِکِ بْنِ أَبِي عَامِرٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ آيَةُ النِّفَاقِ ثَلَاثٌ إِذَا حَدَّثَ کَذَبَ وَإِذَا وَعَدَ أَخْلَفَ وَإِذَا اؤْتُمِنَ خَانَ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 5036
It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “The signs of the hypocrite are three: When he speaks, he lies; when he makes a promise he breaks it; and when he is entrusted with something, he betrays (that trust).” (Sahih)
