و أَخْبَرَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلَانَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَطَائٍ عَنْ أَيْمَنَ قَالَ لَمْ يَقْطَعْ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ السَّارِقَ إِلَّا فِي ثَمَنِ الْمِجَنِّ وَثَمَنُ الْمِجَنِّ يَوْمَئِذٍ دِينَارٌ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 4958
It was narrated that Ayman said: “The Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم did not cut off the (hand of) the thief except for the value of a shield, and the value of a shield in those days was a Dinar.” (Da’if)
