أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي قَالَ أَتَيْنَا جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ فَسَأَلْنَاهُ عَنْ حَجَّةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَکَثَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَ حِجَجٍ ثُمَّ أُذِّنَ فِي النَّاسِ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي حَاجِّ هَذَا الْعَامِ فَنَزَلَ الْمَدِينَةَ بَشَرٌ کَثِيرٌ کُلُّهُمْ يَلْتَمِسُ أَنْ يَأْتَمَّ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَيَفْعَلُ مَا يَفْعَلُ فَخَرَجَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِخَمْسٍ بَقِينَ مِنْ ذِي الْقِعْدَةِ وَخَرَجْنَا مَعَهُ قَالَ جَابِرٌ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا عَلَيْهِ يَنْزِلُ الْقُرْآنُ وَهُوَ يَعْرِفُ تَأْوِيلَهُ وَمَا عَمِلَ بِهِ مِنْ شَيْئٍ عَمِلْنَا فَخَرَجْنَا لَا نَنْوِي إِلَّا الْحَجَّ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 2746
Ja’far bin Muhammad said: “My father told me: ‘We came to Jabir bin ‘Abdullah and asked him about the IIajj of the Prophet L He told us: The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم stayed in Al-Madinah for nine years of then it was announced to the people that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم was going to perform Hajj this year. Many people came to Al Madinah, all of them hoping to learn from the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم and to do as he did. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم set out when there were five days left of Dhul-Qa’dah, and we set out with him.” Jabir said: “And the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم was among us; the Qur’an was being revealed to him, and he knew what it meant. Whatever he did based on it (the Qur’an), we did, and we set out with no intention other than H ajj.” (Sahih)
