أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَقَ عَنْ شُرَيْحِ بْنِ النُّعْمَانِ قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَقَ وَکَانَ رَجُلَ صِدْقٍ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نَسْتَشْرِفَ الْعَيْنَ وَالْأُذُنَ وَأَنْ لَا نُضَحِّيَ بِعَوْرَائَ وَلَا مُقَابَلَةٍ وَلَا مُدَابَرَةٍ وَلَا شَرْقَائَ وَلَا خَرْقَائَ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 4388
It was narrated that ‘Ali said: “The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم commanded us to examine the eyes and ears (of animals) and not to sacrifice an animal with a bad eye, nor an animal with its ears slit from the front, nor an animal with its ears slit from the back, nor an animal with its ears slit lengthwise, nor an animal with a round hole in its ear.
