أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ جَبَلَةَ بْنِ سُحَيْمٍ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ الشَّهْرُ هَکَذَا وَوَصَفَ شُعْبَةُ عَنْ صِفَةِ جَبَلَةَ عَنْ صِفَةِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ تِسْعٌ وَعِشْرُونَ فِيمَا حَکَی مِنْ صَنِيعِهِ مَرَّتَيْنِ بِأَصَابِعِ يَدَيْهِ وَنَقَصَ فِي الثَّالِثَةِ إِصْبَعًا مِنْ أَصَابِعِ يَدَيْهِ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 2148
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Prophet صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم said: “We are an unlettered Ummah, we do not use astronomical counting or computation. The month is like this, and this, and this,” he did three times, showing it as twenty nine. (Sahih)
