أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ صَاحِبَ حِمْصَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَکْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ عَنْ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ ذَکَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْهِلَالَ فَقَالَ إِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَصُومُوا وَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمُوهُ فَأَفْطِرُوا فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ فَعُدُّوا ثَلَاثِينَ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 2129
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم mentioned Ramadan and said: “Do not fast until you see the crescent, and do not stop fasting until you see it, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then work it out.” (Sahih)
