أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي نَافِعٌ عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لَا تَصُومُوا حَتَّی تَرَوْهُ وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّی تَرَوْهُ فَإِنْ غُمَّ عَلَيْکُمْ فَاقْدِرُوا لَهُ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 2128
‘Abdullah bin ‘Umar said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم say: ‘When you see the crescent then fast, and when you see it, then stop fasting, and if it is obscured from you (too cloudy), then work it out (from the beginning of the month, to complete thirty days).” (Sahih).
