أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَی قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي يُونُسُ عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو أُمَامَةَ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ أَنَّهُ قَالَ اشْتَکَتْ امْرَأَةٌ بِالْعَوالِي مِسْکِينَةٌ فَکَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسْأَلُهُمْ عَنْهَا وَقَالَ إِنْ مَاتَتْ فَلَا تَدْفِنُوهَا حَتَّی أُصَلِّيَ عَلَيْهَا فَتُوُفِّيَتْ فَجَائُوا بِهَا إِلَی الْمَدِينَةِ بَعْدَ الْعَتَمَةِ فَوَجَدُوا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ نَامَ فَکَرِهُوا أَنْ يُوقِظُوهُ فَصَلَّوْا عَلَيْهَا وَدَفَنُوهَا بِبَقِيعِ الْغَرْقَدِ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ جَائُوا فَسَأَلَهُمْ عَنْهَا فَقَالُوا قَدْ دُفِنَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَقَدْ جِئْنَاکَ فَوَجَدْنَاکَ نَائِمًا فَکَرِهْنَا أَنْ نُوقِظَکَ قَالَ فَانْطَلِقُوا فَانْطَلَقَ يَمْشِي وَمَشَوْا مَعَهُ حَتَّی أَرَوْهُ قَبْرَهَا فَقَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَصَفُّوا وَرَائَهُ فَصَلَّی عَلَيْهَا وَکَبَّرَ أَرْبَعًا
سنن نسائی · Hadith 1975
Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif said: “A poor woman in Al ‘Awali fell sick and the Prophet used to ask them about her. He said: ‘If she dies, do not bury her until I have offered the funeral prayer for her.’ She died and they brought her to Al-Madinah after dark, and they found that the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم had gone to sleep. They did not like to wake him up, so they offered the funeral prayer for her and buried her in Baqi’ Al-Gharqad. The next morning they came and the Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم asked them about her. They said: ‘She has been buried, Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم. We came to you and found you sleeping, and we did not like to wake you up.’ He said: ‘Let’s go.’ Lie set out walking and they went with him and showed him her grave. The Messenger of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم stood and they formed rows behind him, and he offered the funeral prayer for her, saying the Takbir four times.” (Sahih)
