أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّی قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَی قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْأَکْوَعِ قَالَ أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجَنَازَةٍ فَقَالُوا يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا قَالَ هَلْ تَرَکَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنًا قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ هَلْ تَرَکَ مِنْ شَيْئٍ قَالُوا لَا قَالَ صَلُّوا عَلَی صَاحِبِکُمْ قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيَّ دَيْنُهُ فَصَلَّی عَلَيْهِ
سنن نسائی · Hadith 1967
Salamah — meaning, bin Al Akwa’ — said: “A Janazah was brought to the Prophet and they Said: ‘Prophet of Allah صلی اللہ علیہ وآلہ وسلم, pray for him.’ He said: ‘Did he leave any debt behind?’ They said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘Did he leave anything?’ They said: ‘No.’ He said: ‘Pray for your companion’ A man among the Ansar who was called Abu Qatadah Said: ‘Pray for him, and I will pay off his debt.’ So he prayed for him.” (Sahih)
