حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَی بْنُ إِسْمَعِيلَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ أَخْبَرَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عُرْوَةَ أَنَّ أَبَاهُ کَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ بِنَحْوِ مَا تَقْرَئُونَ وَالْعَادِيَاتِ وَنَحْوِهَا مِنْ السُّوَرِ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد هَذَا يَدُلُّ عَلَی أَنَّ ذَاکَ مَنْسُوخٌ قَالَ أَبُو دَاوُد وَهَذَا أَصَحُّ
سنن ابودوٗد · Hadith 813
HIsham bin Urwah said that his father (‘Umrah) used to recite the surahs as you recite like Wa’l-Adiyat (surah c). Abu Dawud said: This indicates that those (traditions indicating long surahs) are abrogated, and this is more sound tradition.
